Trials Fusion, first "next-gen" title in the now famous Trials series, has been released today. Ubisoft sent us the PS4 version of the game a few days ago, and as a big fan of the series since Trials HD I just had to record a few videos and give you my impressions!
What's new and interesting in this new game compared to the previous ones? The playable ATVs are a nice addition to the series, but their gameplay does not allow as much finesse as the bikes and in the end they seem more like an afterthought in the whole game. The FMX (stunt) mode adds quite a lot of replayability to the levels for the most hardcore fans, but is also not that big a revolution in terms of gameplay, which remains exactly the same as before in the end. That being said, it's not a bad thing at all!
Technically and graphically this first "next-gen" release isn't revolutionary either. The game looks great with much more details than before, and runs in 1080p in the PS4 version tested, but also doesn't manage a perfectly smooth 60 fps all the time. A patch was available when we got the game a few days ago, but we don't know if it was the "day 1" patch that was supposed to fix the framerate issues or not (no patches as of this morning, at least). Even if it remains as it is, the game is still as playable as the ones before in the series, but it would be a bit of a disappointment.
As many expected, Trials fusion is without a doubt an evolution more than a revolution. But then again many people, me included, consider the gameplay of this series as close to perfect as it can be. A much recommended title then, unless of course you are not interested in this type of game or are starting to get tired of the Trials series.
They'll have some dickhead on stage waffling tech babble in our ears about how native it's 4k is, and a staged gameplay demo and WIP trailers. (1 Hour ago)
They literally have to show amazing final products, no bullshit, ready to roll, no delays, as you see it, day one. That isn't happening (1 Hour ago)
we all know that showing and promising stuff isn't the same as actually delivering, and from past experiences from no matter who, it never turns out that way (1 Hour ago)
@KORNdog: I'll bet they will have an impressive E3 due to the buzz of the new hardware, however... (1 Hour ago)
But every chance of introducing that variety they either drop, cancel or don't follow through with improved sequels. E3 needs to be amazing from them. (3 Hours ago)
Before we get them. They need variety to bring in new people. Because forza and halo aren't going to do that (3 Hours ago)
@Moonwalker: basically MS say a lot of things but nothing about what they're ouputting suggests any of it is true. Even if they announce new games, or a SO, or recore sequel, it could be years (3 Hours ago)
