Initialy it looked like a photo to me, great stuff. I think they need to tone down the atmospheric lighting in the sky though, to show some clouds n stuff.

I agree about the sky, but I imagine it looks different in motion

some of the building textures are blurry but its not the final product so it doesn't matter. Besides at 80 mph no one will notice even if they were blurry

The sky is probably overbrighted so it would look like in a photo or a TV program. Anyway, I don't want to play photos or programs. A video game should look like you are IN the game world, though in replays it's OK to use camera effects.

So, where are those super-sharp textures Bizarre hyped? The road looks bland, as do those buildings. This doesn't even look a next-gen game.

The sky is oversaturated like that because of the overuse (In my opinion) of a lighting technique called high dynamic range rendering which allows for simulated atmospheric lighting, to describe it simply for an example if you have ever been to watch a film at a movie cinema, you know how dark it is in there and a general film goes for around 2 and a half hours so your eyes are forced to adjust to the lighting, now when you walk out of the cinema you are hit with bright light and the eye cant adjust correctly in time for the light change which causes this effect. You can also see the developers use of HDR around the edges on some of the buildings, its a nice effect when used correctly.

And another example is like what Hakkiz described as looking like a photo or TV program which is also true, like you may have seen in a TV program where the cameraman is filming inside a room or house, then walks outside while filming, you will notice the same lighting effect as I described before, so then the cameraman adjusts the camera to suit the outdoor lighting.

You don't happen to be Hakkiz, are you Ominou5? :)

It sure does look like a photo. It's no problem the textures in the background aren't sharp. That would not be realistic, you would be overblown with details. In reality you can't see the grinds on a stone from a building 300 meters away too. The only thing which made me realise it was ingame, was the tree.

Is grinds the right word? I'm not English from origin, you know :)

Why the hell would I be Hakkiz? and grooves or contours would probably be a better word used than grinds.

Look, a normal picture from tokyo, often the sky there is just plain white,so why do you ask for clouds, when this is how it actually looks?
Some people here doesn't make alot of sense...

I'm not so much complaining about the lack of clouds more the overuse of atmospheric lighting, but its more visible in the trailers than this one screenshot. How long did you spend in google trying to find a similar photo to the screenshot above :P anyway here are some photos from Tokyo showing clouds in the sky.

http://www.geocities.jp/shikakuikioku2/wall/040920... http://www.geocities.jp/shikakuikioku/wall/050525-...

Its still really early to make firm judgements on the games graphics I guess, and the sky will look different depending on the weather in real life, but the point I was really making wasn't the clouds but the lighting watch one of the trailers it's quite obvious, anyways.. try not to get yourself wound up over something so trivial :)

I think the sky looks good. Better than what we previously saw in the old pics.

Now that's overdoing the HDR effect. =P
