Ubisoft released some new screenshots of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. Those who have had a chance to play the game seem to think it is a very faithful to the previous trilogy, which should please the players who had been disappointed in the new direction the franchise took a bit more than two years ago.

It seems as if they re-used a lot of stuff from the previous games. probably levels they trashed due to lack of time and remastered the whole thin in HD.
I'll give this angry, generic, cash in Prince a miss.
I also strolled upon this...apparently from a dude working at Ubi..
There is a sequel of POP 2008 in the work.
Woups, have I said too much?

And it's been in development longer than this one.

It's a new team. Everyone was taken by surprise, apparently, when they heard there was a new PoP in development (Forgotten Sands). It's pretty recent, but has a big team and is moving at a pretty quick pace.
The sequel to PoP 2008, however, is supposedly more content complete than Forgotten Sands. I can't say for sure if Ben Mattes is involved, I'm not familiar with him. I could ask around.
Anyway, it's not a big shocking news, if you ask me.
Granted the formula has grown a little stale since then so not sure how it will work today, but I still have very fond memories of that amazingly enjoyable game.
Only problem with this franchise/genre is that there is next to zero replay value in these kinds of games and thus they are never more than a rental for me.
