Our Project CARS videos: 2nd batch

Our Project CARS videos: 2nd batch

As promised, here are some new videos of Project CARS, based on the build 229 (from last week). As this week's build adds some improvements to tracks and adds cars, you can expect new videos soon. This times videos have been captured while driving with a Logitech G27 wheel, without assist, quick impressions after the click.

The main developpers of Project CARS being those of Shift 2 (Slightly Mad Studios), driving sensations are there, but without excess, as well as the helmet camera, which gives a very good appreciation of the turns.

Driving with the G27 is very precise and requires some concentration, you have to be cautious with the acceleration, braking and steering, because without assist a head-to-tail can happen quickly. With a racing wheel, the driving feeling is considerably better than a pad, the force feedback is really good (although slightly weak on default settings), the curves can be taken smoothly and once the car is mastered, it is a real pleasure.

A pleasure for the ears, the sound of the engines are very well transcribed, reminding how well it was in Shift 2. But a pleasure for the eyes too, graphically it's above the rest, although some tracks are currently lacking scenary, there are many details, the textures are sharp and day/night cycles changes completely how to drive on each circuit. The cars are also very detailed, many mechanic parts are modeled, giving the feeling that the game is made by racing enthusiasts.

Exactly. I'm yet to understand a word CEZARR has typed. It's like he's used the google translator and it's fucked it up completely...lol.

I'll say it ! THE CARS DO LOOK LIKE TOYS (specially in Replays) !
That being said, the trees look rubbish too (again in Replay, like in GT5 Prologue) and there's some camera shaking behavior i'd like to see improved. Other than that it's looking pretty solid so far, the sound sure does impress (onboard, again in Replay: not so much), but imo sounds inferior to SimBins GT3 (could be the video though). All in all sure doesn't look like a proper DX11-title yet, only in close up views/slo-mo's.

If the picture is for example 12 or 18, do not look realistic enough for you then bro, is likely in real life you always lack of polygons and textures

Yep and I say it's very fun. I should really check out what updates they have made in the last couple weeks.

Some of the community skins for cars looks really good. I'll see if I remember to take some screenshots :)

Those stills look great, still not convinced with the videos. It all seems too sterile. Better than last time though; it's good to see improvements made.

I dont think the game is half finished yet is it? Am sure the racing will be nailed come release especially with all the feedback they are getting.

This game is a total mixed bag, in EVERY WAY.

About the game

What's up?
  • Sdarts
Sdarts Oh, yeah, I just remembered. Papers, Please does something similar as well. Puts you in an unconfortable position. (3 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts Spec Ops: The Line does something similar, and I wish more games put you on that spot. Try to make you think: "WTF do I do?" and etc. (6 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts Decisions like that. If the game's story is really good, you actually feel the weight of them and how there's no "win" choice, just worse and even worse choices. Some books and movies try to convey it (8 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts @bleachedsmiles: Just hypothetical and nothing to do with the game: Do you blow a school full of children where a terrorist is hiding? Or let him go free to potentially kill thousands more innocents? (8 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts @bleachedsmiles: I can't mention the scene in question without spoiling, but one option was almost impossible and the other was "easy" to do, but the "easy" one was something "monstrous". So values. (15 minutes ago)
  • droezelke
droezelke @Sdarts: I don't know. The shooting felt off. It had mouse acceleration, which I hate. Cover wasn't fluid. But I loved the story. I also couldn't stand the voice of Drake in that setting. (16 minutes ago)
  • digi_matrix
digi_matrix I love when story and gameplay match, and most of it is told in-game than just cutscenes. Remedy's games are also great at that. (30 minutes ago)
