Video PC PS4 Xbox One Wii U

Here is our final batch of videos of Project CARS before a while, so we have something new to show you guys. This time, we focused on the passing of time and the dynamic weather system which we accelerated 240 times to show what the game was capable of. We chose two rather different tracks, the first one being highly detailed while the second proposes a barer look, due to its official nature. Similar footage has already been put up on YouTube but we thought it'd be interesting to do it ourselves. Framerate was capped at 30 fps for the purpose of the videos, but we're not very happy with the result as it doesn't seem as smooth as it should be - although Fraps indicated a steady 30 fps framerate but the frame pacing issues are due to the capture limiter itself unfortunately. That being said, the quality is still good enough to see what Slightly Mad Studios has achieved.

I love the real time reflections on the ground and the lighting (especially the sunset). The game looks pretty :)

I think the reflections on the road are a little bit over the top if you ask me.

Yeah, they're a bit excessive. Ground stays mirror finish wet even in tunnels too, which looks weird.

Well, if the puddles are deep enough, and the road is a smooth and dark enough surface, you will get a mirror-like reflection. It's the amount of those kind of puddles that is excessive. A road wouldn't really collect puddles like that to such a high frequency, especially inside a tunnel. Minor complaint, as the weather dynamics on show give the game an atmosphere that looks amazing.

Doesn't have the same punch after seeing new DC trailer but still impressive for a small dev

Pretty awesome video showing dynamic changes. Although not like realistic. I think they need to tone down a bit.

are you guys retarded? if there is a puddle of water it will reflect.. how is it overdone lmao

too used to static puddles i guess ;)

we know how puddles work "retard". It is simply excessively done. Unless of course this is post tsunami? Maybe that's the look they're going for.

How is this anything but a static puddle? Yes, the reflection changes but that's it. I've not seen a video where the puddle actually deforms from the wheels driving in them.

I kinda feel it lacks some colors. I would like to see how it runs with more cars on screen though. You will probably need the best pc to get it to run at 60fps...

This game's graphics are so all over I don't even know what to think. It can look great, and it can look downright bad. Will they be able to fix it before release? I'm going with no, but hope to be proven wrong come that time.

True that. When are going to get real puddles? At least let the water splashes look real. The water kicked up from the road and puddles is pretty embarrassing.

That and some environment details aside, the game looks good.

amazing, one thing is the splash noises are constant and i see the car goos over parts that has more standing water and puddles and lesser ones, would be great if the splash noises increased and decreased according to the puddles.

ill let you all know why the water effect when tires go through them has not been implemented, the sheer amount of math data required to simulate water being displaced in real time by a tire going though it would be too high for any current hardware to deal with, we are only just getting fluid and particle effects that are almost realistic yet to do these physics calculations requires either a dedicated physics processor or an extremely powerful CPU which the consoles simply do not have, it's still going to be a pretty long time before developers have hardware and software able to deal with realistic water physics.

Looks amazing. They are very close to master the gfx. But since they are making this game sim. 60fps is required too. No way the Wii u will do that with these gfx. GT7 and Forza6 got a serious challenge

that's easy on PC but for consoles well we will just have to wait and see.

Time will tell. But Forza5 with so little tracks and could not bring anything new to the table. Like night racing or changing condition inspite of new hardware is nothing to talk about. GT6 on other hand is damn good but PS3 is clearly holding it back. I think on PS4 they can do pretty much what they like to do. Hopefully proper damage model too and only premium of course. lol

good god if GT7 has "standard vs premium" car models again they should all be fired. What an embarrassment.

That would take a pretty amazing dynamic particle and physics system to get it looking anywhere near where you'd expect. That kind of spec hogging feature just can't be afforded in games yet.

Not really. Dirt 3 did it very well with DX11 on PC.

dirt 3 did not have any thing remotely close to what i said, it may have nice animation however it did not have simulated water displacement.
