Race Driver: Grid trailer & image

Race Driver: Grid trailer & image

Codemasters released this new and quite extraordinary looking trailer of Race Driver: GRID, plus one new image showing the dashboard view. It's so incredible looking that I have a hard time believing it's really 100% in-engine, but heck I sure would love to be proven wrong.

I think just like PGR or GT5, it looks out of this world when in photomode or replay... but ingame is toned down a bit

Either way, i've gotta pull my jaw up from the ground.

Looks awesome, a game where the cars finally flip all the way over with proper damage.

Looking forward to this one, just hope codemasters get the car physics right, hated Dirts arcadey floaty pole though the center of the car handling feel.

Thanks for posting a better encoded version than the Gametrailers 720P version. :D The game looks even better if that's possible. lol!

Yeah i saw the Gametrailers version too and my jaw dropped but this is much better quality!!! I was so close to buying a PS3 for GT Prologue but it always seemed like too much cash to spend with only the one game that interests me but after seeing what Codemasters have done with this im gonna be happy with just my 360!!

Man, I really hate to be in the dark about this game. It looks too good to be true. I'm holding my breath until I see videos with people playing it in-game.

Looks awesome, but not as much as the photos.

I really hate that the game has the same brown atmosphere as Dirt, i hate that, the pictures do not look like this they look way nicer and more colorful.

Judding from the trailer the the sharpnes of the game will not be as good as in Forza2, GT5p or PGR4, it looks a lot like Dirt which has a very blury picture, way to much bloom and a ugly brown picture, that's very disappointing, i really thought that the sharpnes and atmosphere will look the same as on the photos, but it looks like a blury brown bloom mess :-(

looks incredible but never say never..

i mean remember when MGS2's trailer hit and everyone refused to believe it was real time? CG..heck it was all real time..

I'm just having a hard time believing the amount of damage being shown in the videos, it is insane along with the consistent level of graphics

I don’t see any mirrors in that cockpit view and the hands and arms a bit disappointing but oh well there is always something. Anyway looks not like that we will get the same overview as in GT5, it’s more like the PGR or DiRT cockpit view.

Meh I dont like the whole hip-street racing theme of the game, race driver isn't supposed to be like that...

I don't think it's the badattitude of street racing, but rather the nitty and gritty of a real touring car race they're trying to get. ProStreet completely failed at this attempt, and it seems to me like GRID is overdoing it. PGR4 is still the best attempt so far imo.

well, I have a hard time believing this is the quality of the final game we will play.

Firstly, the game has been mentioned by the devs (in an interview posted here on Gamersyde) to 'only' run 30fps.
Secondly I believe this movie is set up and scripted in the engine (camera work, car behavior, physics etc.) then set to render each frame (still in the engine) with nice AA and filtering as a 60fps movie clip.

Still, I have no doubts the final build will look great... Just not as great as the visuals in this movie.

The game is on PC aswell, which doesn't have to be locked at 30fps ;)

If this is in-game (and I believe it to be so and absolutely possible) then it's mind blowing. It's certainly shitting all over GT5 and PGR4 from a great hight visually, and that is saying something.

aren't codemasters the masters of bullshots or something? But then again Dirt looked pretty solid! If this video is real then WOW! that's some PS4 level shit right there

It shows both wing mirror and rear-view mirror in the cockpit view. (At 40secs in the video.) Not only that but they're using separate reflections! (Usually you see the same reflections in all the mirrors in games don't you?)

I can't believe you guys. Anyone who says that trailers looks sh*t or that the graphics look worse than PGR4 or GT5 need their eyes tested.
The graphics looks INCREDIBLE, speeds looks great, amazing detail, lovely textures, great lighting, AMAZING damage model.
This game has slowly been climbing my most wanted list but now it has shot straight to the top.
My only worry, and it is a big one, is that the trailer is has been "sexed up" to make the game look better than it real is, or that it is the PC version, running on a VERY high end PC running at a lowish resolution.
We will have to wait and see but I am very hopeful.
The game is due out in June so hopefully we will start seeing some proper hands-on previews and proper in game footage soon.

I know but that is some replay footage (or something). I actually talked about the screenshot. Sorry if it wasn't clear.

I think it looks great. I have high hopes for this one. And hey, if you really want 60fps, I'm sure that will be achievable with the PC version at the very least.

just to let u guys know iplayed this at play.com live and i can say it looks loads better than these pics

Did you play it on the PC or a console?

Any ne thinking this represents how the game will look when your playing it is pretty stupid. For one, they put the most AA they could without making it completely smooth, so as to trick some people and stuff. For another, a lot of the lights etc are a bit to much. This is probably in engine, but there are DEFINITELY some unrealistic improvements, such as AA etc. Still I'm sure it will look great, but I don't see how they can pull this off in a console game.

Actually, this is 720, look at the resolution, 1280x720, GT HD is actually somethingx540, and terribly over compressed at that.

It certainly is produced with the in-game engine but it´s quite obvious that like someone suggested it has been rendered frame by frame and additionaö AA and AF has been added.

That the trailer runs at 60fps and the actual game is supposed to run at 30fps is also pointing in this direction.

Looks very nice indeed. Hope the gameplay is a bit better than Dirt..
