Rage gets screens and a release date

id Software gave a release date during its QuakeCon for Rage, September 13 2011 in North America and a couple days later in Europe. No news without something so here are two new screens inside.

Thankfully it doesn't look like another Doom3 or Crysis situation.
Maybe people will be able to crank the visuals and still get playable framerates on day one.

Man, the face on the guy in the first screen is pretty fantastic looking. This game'll look great...despite my distaste for desert/post-apocalyptic settings.

Boderlands + Fallout mix I think. Rage gfx are overrated. 60fps is cool though like great COD MW2 lol

But I think Crysis2 will be best looking multiplatform. Hopefully Crysis2 will not be life Mafia2 demo on consoles. Rage looks good I guess and runs really well.

I feel as if I owe id software money for my childhood to preadolescence years so I will buy this....
In the end, I hope its justified tho, as they haven't put out anything crazy for a while...

A future where style has completely died a horrific death, I guess killing these worthless fashion victims will probably be fun, the engine is pretty sound, technically.

I just feel like this specific type of post apocalyptic setting is more than a little hackneyed at this point.

I wonder what the PC specs will be...hmm pc or 360, these are the hard choices :)

These shots look pretty bad but i've seen enough footage of the game to know it'll look great so i'm not especially deterred by this.

That releasedate is over a year away.. I start checking this game again during next year's summer then, useless checking it now if it's still that far off..

it must be frustrating for ID when gearbox did this exact game just under a year ago. stylistically it's incredibly similar, it just doesnt have the black outlines. it just seems to be lacking the incredibly adictive gun/loot system that borderlands had in place.

screen dont look that impressive here either.

i can't really say i'm excited for this one, but i'll probably check it out some time in the future (the far future considering it's LATE 2011 release date, i dread to think how long it's going to take for us to get our hands on doom 4)

Games going to be NOTHING like borderlands. I originally thought it was going to be an fps/rpg fallout3/borderlands mix..but i think it'll end up having more in common with far cry 2. Pretty, but not exactly deep.

Looks like the textures have had a downgrade for consoles. Hope the PC looks as good as the old screenshots did

i dunno, seems like a middle of the road shooter with vehicular transportation set in a stylised post apocolyptic world. now what does that sound like i wonder...lol

sure you dont level up and there is no loot to get obsessed with, but the core elements are the same. it's even got that large, but not quite open world approach to it's levels/wastelands.

Textures are pretty low res and ugly in some places. I'm guessing this is the console version. The floors look completely flat and weird, they need bump mapping or whatever it is that makes them pop out and more realistic and not seem flat.

people critizing the graphics are forgetting that it will be 60 FPS on consoles. Considering this the graphics are fantastic. Can't wait to see what iD Software will do with the new 30 FPS DOOM.

Exactly. People will always find something to bitch about. 60fps and the game still looks better than 99.9% of the games on the 360. Maybe those same naysayers should go back and play a XBox or PS2 game, to remind them how good the game actually looks.
