Risen 3: Titan Lords announced

Piranha Bytes and Deep Silver have officially unveiled Risen 3: Titan Lords, set to release in August 2014 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. After the Dark Waters title and its piracy world, the studio goes back to a medieval universe. First screens inside.

Risen 3: Titan Lords – Piranha Bytes Return To Their Roots With Classic RPG

Piranha Bytes, the creators of Gothic and Risen, return to their origins with a new, classic RPG. Risen 3: Titan Lords pulls the player in to a handcrafted role-playing world full of rugged charm where every decision changes the course of the story. Risen 3: Titan Lords is set for release in August 2014 for the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft and for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system as well as Windows PC.

The key element of the cult Gothic series as well as Risen is the vivid world and the freedom to explore it. The world of Risen 3: Titan Lords will be diverse, authentic and full of life, providing the player with an authentic, classic RPG experience.

“Like a carpenter with a handcrafted piece of furniture, we put together the story, the characters and the landscape until it all fits and the player has the possibility to discover things all around the place. You can try out and find things that others might not. Exploration is the key to our game”, says Bjoern Pankratz, Project Lead at Piranha Bytes.

The world of Risen 3 is abandoned by all gods and suffers from the Titan Wars when a new threat rises from the soil. A young warrior is attacked from the shadows and deprived of his soul. He sets off to reclaim what is lost amidst the darkness that is spreading throughout the world. The banned Mages could be powerful allies on his quest. To get their help, he needs to find the Mage sanctuary on Taranis, also known as the Island of Thunder. Protected by the Guardians, the Mages search the mines of Taranis for crystals loaded with magic energy. Will the player join the Guardians to get in contact with the Mages? Or will he choose one of the other guilds in Risen 3 to reach his goals?

Maybe fun on PC, but 360 and PS3? Nah. It is a shame about Risen 2, cause i did enjoy the first one, even with its many shortcomings on 360. And i reallly enjoyed the two Gothic games on PC. 3 was a mess.

Yeah i agree. And i assume these are pc shots...shit it has nothing on Witcher 3 or Dragon Age Inquisition, actually looks kinda bad in places. I guess Risen 2 did sell enough for a third one to be made....

Not to actually defend this, as i think their previous efforts are pretty terrible games in general, but come on. These guys are small-fry compared to RPG juggernauts like CD-Projekt and Bioware. Can't really expect it to look like a AAA game with all bells and whistles.

i'm surprised they actually keep making these.. they never review well, and their technical shortcomings are always well documented, but they must be selling

alimokrane @Melmoth: Exactly and that's my point :) I convinced myself to play it even though its first person - for a game to do that for me, it's BIG! (8 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth @alimokrane: i used to read Edge reviews in the 90's and early 2000's because their opinions very often lined up with my own. Also, reading reviews is better than "reading" scores. (11 minutes ago)

Melmoth @alimokrane: for me it's worked well to find a site, or even better, a reviewer you often seem to agree with or have the same taste in games, and you hare some reference point. (13 minutes ago)

GriftGFX Having played other recent horror games, they probably just decided/realized it was a superior camera for the genre. (13 minutes ago)

Moonwalker happy as hell because boy.....was 6 a mess. Even the good parts really weren't that good at all. Still though I am slightly sad about no third person. (15 minutes ago)

Moonwalker I'm sure if Resi 7 had been exactly like 6 nobody would be happy. It seems Capcom now looked at modern horror games and also brought back some Resi stuff. If I was a fan of this franchise I would be (16 minutes ago)

asdfg @Sdarts: Agree, nice atmosphere and graphics looks solid. So nice to see a RE that doesn't look like a shitty action B movie. (23 minutes ago)
