Sega announces World Pool 2007

Sega today announced World Pool Championship 2007 for PSP, PS2, Xbox 360 and PS3. Hopefully they'll concentrate on the graphics the upcoming months, considering how it looks compared to Table Tennis. The game will be released this autumn, so they still have time. First images inside.

Well they are in 720p resolution... that scares me though.

That looks utterly pathetic. I don't think it will improve that much. It should look stellar.

it almost looks like they were in a lower res and then scaled to 720 as its that bad at the moment.

so many jpg compression artefacts on screen 5.

I got to play 3 hours or so with Rockstar Table Tennis a few days ago and I can tell you it's the bar for Next Gen sports games visually. It looks amazing, never seen such detailed player models and such fluid animations and cloth dynamics. Really fun game too!

Doesn't look any better than Bankshot to me.
Unless it has ALOT more gaming options, this one is a pass for me.

This is from the same company that brought us Virtua Tennis 3 and Virtua Fighter 5, right? Good Lord, did they forget to change the graphics from the PS2 version? Look at Table Tennis if you need an idea of fantastic graphics in a small environment like this.

Blim, the sega e3 site says its only for Ps2 and PSP:

World Pool Championship 2007 will be available on the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and World Pool Challenge 2007 will be available on the PSP™ portable entertainment system.

Are tou sure about the next gen part?

It better be cheap. Bankshot 2 is already a great billiards game.

ummm i think the 360 arcade pool game is every bit as good as this ($4 worth of credits?)
Commented on 2006-04-27 21:36:35

I know that gameplay is everything, control's reponse are the most important thing, blahblahblah... but this... I'm sorry but this is the most pathetic looking next-gen game I have ever seen.

Next Gen Images are looking poor.

About the game

What's up?
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Except.. clickers are really popular.. so not everyone realizes the pointlessness :D (20 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth cookie clicker brilliantly captures that transition from being obsessed with the grind to realizing the pointlessness of it. (37 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth rankings/ladders are more meaningful. they meter your skill level and can be motivation to improve. but grind kind of meters just feels so pointless. (40 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX In this kind of game I prefer that it doesn't have too much of an impact on gameplay. Like people still like filling bars in OW but there are only cosmetic unlocks. (42 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth he could watch the Time Played meter, it will never be full :D (42 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth but the bars used to have more impact on the gameplay. like levling in an rpg. (43 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I don't find it surprising.. people reacted the same way to SWBF.. and compared to the last few Battlefield games it's a light package. (44 minutes ago)
