Cool vid, should be a great game..hopefully more SEGA rally than SEGA Rally 2

Loved the driving on the snow covered road. I love the fact that the car leaves all sorts of traces and stuff.

Yeah, the snow looks great! There's still some slight framerate wonkyness, but I think this could turn out really good.

Thing is, if it IS really good then the even more exciting fact is that this is a studio (Sega Racing Studio) devoted to making racing games based on existing Sega IP. Sega Rally was always my favourite, but it's a team assembled of loads of talented people off of places like DICE and Codemasters, potentially tackling things like Crazy Taxi, Daytona USA, Hang On GP, Manx TT, etc etc.

This has me even more nervous about this game, but I'm trying not to get too involved, keeping my fingers crossed that it'll come out of nowhere and kick ass.

Looks pretty nice and all. But not better than ppgr3 (btw.. played Forza2 on a big screen yesterday, and man.. it looks bad - compared with gthd/5).

Stupid how this guy is all about the surface deformation technology, and the makers of Motorstorm almost didn't talk about that.

yeah but in motorstorm it was just an optical feature.

Motorstorm, arggghhh!!!!!

Why?! Do?! People?! Have?! To?! Mention?! It?! Every?! Damn?! Time?! a?! Sega?! Rally? Thread?! Comes?! Up?!

This game is going to own, (just so long as people shut the hell up about motorstorm!!!! PS2 game with fancy-ish GXF)

I think they should include the first two Sega Rally games as hidden extras, that would rule!

I think you might have half-helped until you suggested Motorstorm is like a PS2 game. Now this thread is truly doomed.

Lol, seriously? Have you actually watched the tech demos released by Sega? You think those effects could be handled on the PS2?

LOL at the PS2 remark!

The is a definate buy for me, I really hope though that they wont restrict cars too the round as in the last vid there were invisible walls.

I was far more impressed with the alpine race course than the jungle course they showed in the last vid. Seriously this looks like its gonna be a kick ass game!

Sorry! Just getting fed up of hearing about it in the same vein as Sega Rally:

1. It isn't THAT good (yes I have played it) and just made me think that it probably could be ported to PS2 if they gave it some thought, it would just lack the SFX.

2. It doesn't have the pedigree that Sega Rally has, so why mention it under the same breath?

BTW, like the optimus icon. Nice!

About the game

What's up?
  • droezelke
droezelke @Melmoth: Just read up on it. Itls developped by a member of Crytek while still working for Crytek and is based of the CryEngine, but it is proprietary to Ubisoft. How that works in terms of royalties (2 Hours ago)
  • droezelke
droezelke @Melmoth: Is the Dunia Engine Crytek property? I don't think so (2 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I mean they can keep upgrading it but why bother when they have more capable engines already. (15 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I just think it shows its age in a lot of ways in FC5 and they have better tech so they should use it. (15 Hours ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth if they still pay royalties to crytech when using it they probably should (15 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Although I think it's kinda time to retire Dunia. (15 Hours ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth @HR2: a lot of studios used modified UE3, games like Arkham Knight, XCom2, both being very problematic on pc. Interesting to see what those studios will do for their next games. (15 Hours ago)
