I was talking to ManThatYouFear the other day and we both agreed that although this game is going to take many of our hours away with it`s engrossing world, it`s scarily been so long since we both played a game that was single player only!
Buying a title, (for me anyway), that has no multiplayer, no co-op - nothing! felt kinda strange at first. Having an engrossing single player game is something which I`ve not played for some time now and that`s what excites me the most.
I know that there are other single player-only titles out there across all platforms, but for me, when I look back at my past gaming history during the last 12-18 months, I can say with certainty, that I haven`t played anything on my PC, PS3 or 360 that hasn`t been anything other than cooperative, (in a multitude of different ways that is!)
With a single player only experience, I am truly looking forward to pulling out my ethernet cable, downing the router, locking the door and donning my headphones in a darkly lit gaming room to enjoy this title in all it`s glory and one thing is for certain!......................after all this time, I`m gonna enjoy this, without feeling one bit guilty!......just like in the good ol` days man!

I think the lack of co-op, was a missed opportunity in Skyrim. One of the things I have always said while playing Oblivion, was that if the game had multiplayer, it would have been in almost every way, what a modern MMO should have been. Most of everything I have seen, heard and read about Skyrim, seems to indicate that more than Oblivion even, Skyrim is what a modern MMO should be. It is then a real shame that you can't get co-op in either of these games. Not that any of that is going to stop me from wasting over 300 hours of my life in Tamriel . . . again. It's just that it would have been nice to spend those 300+ hours with a couple of friends.

The short answer is: No...
Elder Scrolls is created for the SP experience. Cooperative play would destroy the "I can do anything anytime" experience. Your coop buddy would get really tired of you, when you go off in a new direction for the 100th time in an hour...

agreed, this is a single player experience to be had for ones own. my wife and I will each have a copy and we will play together on our own, in our own, individually created world.
