Me for once, would love some nice tunes and a great score to this !
Maybe I am to old,
but this Music doesn't appeal at all to me in a Splatterhouse game, and is partly a game breaker ..for sure some fun points lost here!

Love the old Splatterhouse Games so was looking forward to it

Industrial death metal soundtrack? Honestly would not accept anything less for a modernized game in this franchise.

That said, most of what I have seen of the game over the past year, makes me worry this game is going to fall on it's face. I hope I am wrong, spent many a day back during 8-bit and 16-bit playing Splatterhouse games, and have lots of fond memories to go with. So I'm really hoping this one turns out awesome, so that I can add some new fond memories of the series to my brain to go with the ones from 20 years ago. The recent changes in the art direction, plus the addition of some old school side-scrolling bits, are both steps in the right direction IMO. Even so, I just get a bad feeling that it's not going to be enough to save this game.

Nice soundtrack though.

I think I'll be using the Xbox 360's custom soundtrack feature for this game then, lol! Why do people think that if you like horror you must like crap music too? Just because some horror movies feature people getting disembowled doesn't mean I wan't to listen to music that feature "singers" who sounds like they're being disembowled while "singing", lol!

I can't believe retailers will stock a game like this but not an AO game like Duke Nukem (is looking to be) because of an off-screen blowjob.

Fucking disgraceful.

It's aiming at a particular demographic, and just because YOU think it's crap music, doesn't mean that it is. Most of these bands are by no means within the deep underground of music. They're fairly accessible as far as that genre of music goes. Just because you're not familiar with it doesn't mean anything. If anything, there's a LACK of games that cater to that demographic, so obviously this particular game seems to fit the bill. Take it or leave it. Even if you may think there's a lack of an audience for it, it will actually be a pretty big selling point for a lot of people. The average person isn't going to give a damn about the soundtrack on this kind of game, but to people who say "Hey, it's got Mastodon etc." on it, they might check it out... moreso than if it just had your standard videogame music. Call it a gimmic or whatever, but eh... It's marketing. There's a bigger demand for that type of music than you'd think. You just don't see it if you're not a part of it... and I listen to everything from Jazz, to folk, electronica, and Metal. I'm pretty open minded when it comes to music. Sorry that you're not. You don't have to like it, but I don't think there's a more fitting game to attempt to use the soundtrack as part of the marketing towards that niche.

Are most horror films filled with brain dead heavy metal? Nope, they have atmospheric orchestral soundtracks because they add to the atmosphere instead of giving people headaches.

Added to the troubled development and mediocre visuals this game looks like a massive failure in every possible department.

Those bands are "metal"
Some of the names should ring a bell even though you're not into metal...
And some of them are even very very big in the States and Europe.

Cavalera Conspiracy are the Cavalera Brothers (Sepultura)

The Haunted are some of the orignal members of AT The Gates (founders of Gothenburg Metal /Melodic Death like Dark Tranquillity and IN Flames)

Lamb of God/ Mastodon are HUGE in the modern metal world. Bought all of LOG's albums even though their kind of the same Hardcore LOG fans will disagree of course...

And Five Finger Death Punch is starting to get really big I heard

No, movies do not always have metal in it because often the focus is set on atmosphere. With Splatterhouse the focus is probably set on gore, violence and "brootal fun" and I think there's no music that fits better than all kinds of metal(core).

I remember my first time travelling to Wacken Open Air (1999) even though I hated metal at this time. But since then I listen to it - mostly to bands which I claimed to make utter crap noise a few years ago.
If you see the success of bands like In Flames (which used to be good and heavy), Avenged Sevenfold in the States, there has to be a huge market, mainly since all the emo/metalcore Bands started to get all the kids in to the "scene"

And don't get me started on the headache "fact" Because this can be said about every musical genre.

I wasn't just referring to this game but in general, the whole "if you like horror then you must like all this other stuff otherwise you're not "cool", not a "proper" horror fan". And yes, if I think the music is crap then it is crap to ME. Just because I don't like death metal and related noise doesn't mean I'm close-minded, I could say you're not open-minded you've just got really low standards, are easy to please and possibly even have defective aural synapses! If you're so open-minded then why did you have to label the music you listen to? I just listen to music that interests me and don't label it, if I'm asked what kind of music I like I'd just list a few artists as an example as well as basically just saying I like what I like. I can't list a "type" because for example I don't like Blondie's version of One Way Or Another but I do like Mandy Moore's, it's far more dynamic and to me more enjoyable. However i don't have that many CDs (or downloads, less downloads than CDs) as I am pretty picky when it comes to music I wish to listen to, that's not close-minded it's called being discerning. Anyway, back on topic, to claim that there's a lack of games with this sort of soundtrack is ridiculous. maybe these bands aren't on many or perhaps even any games however I've heard the same style in plenty of games. (Although thankfully mainly without vocals.) Also don't the Guitar Hero/Rock Band games include these or similar? I think you're well catered for. Besides, I just said I didn't like it and will most likely be using custom soundtracks, I didn't say I was going to campaign to have the soundtrack changed before release, lol! Also it's not like I was expecting the soundtrack to be slow ballads I just don't want a "Goatwhore" vomiting headache-inducing noise into my ears while I'm trying to play a game. Why can't this game have a similar soundtrack to the first 3? OK, most of the tunes were a bit crappy but they could use a similar style and the composer would have the chance to make it (roughly) fit the action rather than just dumping ready-made licensed crap into the game. By the way Mr. "open-minded", would you have defended the soundtrack if it consisted entirely of Justin Bieber? Lol!

Your pushy and assy attitude towards metal does not become less so by adding "lol" every 5 words ok? Lol.

Trying to pass yourself off as more refined because you don't like this kind of music is also just laughable. You don't like it, that's fine i can totally understand why it's not suited to your taste but take that retarded condescending shit and shove it. Lol.

I'm really really sorry for you. If you don't like metal and its subgenres, that's fine to me but your so called "open-mindedness" and other statements are just plain stupid. Death Metal for example, even though I don't listen to it that much, is (can be) very complex with many things "going on" and has often very technical guitar players, arrangements etc.

As I said earlier it's fine to me if you don't like this music in general or/and as soundtrack for a game but your low standard, easy to please bullshit etc. is just stupid...

Why should I laugh?
As I mentioned in the first post I wasn't into metal at all when I first went to Wacken Open Air. But there I saw Rage (not against the machine ) and I really liked there XIII show there. The same goes for Edguy which where the opening act for Wacken back then. I had also seen Dimmu Borgir, Children Of Bodom, The Haunted etc. there and I couldn't understand why someone would torture himself by "listening" to that noise.
Back from Wacken Open Air I really got into Edguy,Rage, Gamma Ray, Helloween, Blind Guardian and these kind of stuff whereas I really had to force myself to get into In Flames because of the awesome Only For the Weak-Live Perfomance at Wacken. Suddenly it wasn't noise anymore but beautiful music The same with Children Of Bodom (Hatebreeder/Follow The Reaper) and some years later Dimmu, Cradle,...

Nightwish was a very good band back then as they were the opening act for the European RAGE-Tour.

For about 7 years now I haven't listened to "normal" metal... instead I'm really digging the Melodic Death, Deathcore and Metalcore stuff.
Bands like Dark Tranquillity, Heaven Shall Burn, Parkway Drive, As I Lay Dying, Caliban, God Forbid , I Killed The Prom Queen, and all the other bands

Save your pity as I don't see not liking various metal sub-genres as a disadvantage, in fact I'm sure my ears and brain are much better off than if I did. I don't care how technically skilled someone is at playing an instrument or constructing the music as in how complex the structure might be, if the music they're making is crap then it's crap! The point of music is to enjoy it at a different level, not just listen and go "Well that guitar was well played and so were the drums. The melodic and vocal qualities are irrelevant, it's a masterpiece regardless!" Of course if you're creating music you can be impressed by the technicalities of a track but that's not the same as actually enjoying the track as a whole or even liking the sound. (There's plenty of music I don't really "like" but can at the very least tolerate the sound or say not like the singer but rest is OK, death metal and others similar don't even fall in the former catagory let alone the latter.) You started the bullshit by calling me close-minded because I don't like music that you apparently do. My original post was simply expressing disappointment at the soundtrack announcement and getting something off my chest about horror, I didn't aim it at anyone here nor specifically mean to start a discussion but since you decided to have a go at me for not sharing your tastes I had a go back so don't start acting like the victim.

And to Megido, you want to talk about condescending? How about this in zomfg's first reply?:

"Most of these bands are by no means within the deep underground of music. They're fairly accessible as far as that genre of music goes. Just because you're not familiar with it doesn't mean anything."

Totally elitist bullshit! "Oh, even people with simple brains should like these bands, it's only the underground ones that you need to be a genius to enjoy or to have even heard of." No doubt he's the sort of person who calls others "sellouts" if they become too popular.

Edit: That's odd, it turns out I was replying to DevilInside23 yet they were posting as if they were zomfg.
