Stormrise announced

Stormrise announced

Sega is the first publisher this year to announce a new game just a few days before E3. It's a "consolified" RTS named Stormrise being developed by the Australian studio of Creative Assembly, and the main novelty is the ability to have units in the vertical plan, be it in the sky, on the rooftops or even under the ground. It's supposed to be released sometimes in 2009 on PS3 and Xbox 360, and you'll get the first screens inside.
Update 2: 720p trailer.

I guess it's safe to assume this destroys the "MS buys SEGA rumour" ...

Glad to see more RTS hitting consoles. This one looks quite interesting. I know what RTS to look out for now once WiC:SA is released :)

I think RTS games has always been bad ass and good games. I don't know what could have changed it just now.

I would say the rumour was highly unlikely anyway. But if it is true, Microsoft probably wouldn't intefere with any of the games Sega currently had in development, just like EA hasn't had any control over Mass Effect, Sonic Chronicles, etc.

I guess you never heard of Dawn of War, Starcraft or Company of Heroes :P

One thing i like about this though, is how everything seems to be scale 1:1, especially in the last picture with the huge mechs.

yeah, but that's not what I meant - this puts down the rumour because MS would never publish a PS3 title ... ;)

I think what he is trying to say is that this is a work in progress, that was designed with a Ps3 version in mind. Allowing Sega to finish its pending projects, could be part of the deal they made to acquire them. Even if MS were to buy sega there are still sega stalk owners. MS might not have control over these final projects.

Although i haven't heard anything on a buyout rumor. I would think that if a rumor had any real validity it would be circulating a little more around the rumor sites like deeko or teamxbox. i haven't seen anything on those sites and they love rumors especially Deeko.

These guys make Total War, which is an excellent franchise. Cool stuff.

Shame. Looks really grey and boring. The characters look super low res, even for an RTS. The game might turn out to be decent but looking at it from here now.
Its a console Post RTS, made by sega and looks pretty bland. Not much in its favor ATM.

I hope I am wrong....

No, I don't see it. The different factions looks the same.

Are you kidding me? One is the high tech (robots machines etc.) type, and the other is clearly more organic, fantasy type.

I wish that were true

Maybe then Sega would have more time and cushion to make their games great again
