TDU 2 release date and images

Four years after the first episode, Test Drive Unlimited 2 will ship on Spetember 21st on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. Back in 2006, online gaming on console was almost just born but the game nonehteless managed to appeal to the players who enjoyed driving around with friends. Let's hope this sequel will at least do just as well. A beta is already planned and you can subscribe here.

Aw man, I already feel over-car-game-d. Where do I get time to play so many car games?
Merging them all together would be nice.
If there'd be an open world with real cars and power-up combat with environment threats that has car modding and online competition then it would be the ultimate game for me :D

Loved the first one, despite the rough edges. Such a brilliant concept. I hope they nail it this time.

The main thing they need to get right is the physics. Thought cars handled alright in TDU, but it could stand to be improved, make the cars feel less stiff. Particularly collisions and such felt kind of crappy. Other than that it's just general miscellaneousness. Such as comparing cars from different manufacturers...they did not think that through at all. You had to drive from one manufacturer, write down all the specs, then drive all the way to another manufacturer. And Oahu is not a small island. Like...give the avatar internet in his home or something.

One thing I kind of wish they wouldn't improve is all the clothes, furniture and avatar nonsense. All that stuff just seems misguided. Fine that you can buy homes/garages/hubs and customize your avatar to some degree, but it seems to me like they've went a bit overboard with all the peripheral customization. But as long as they're making improvements everywhere else as well I guess I don't really mind....though I kind of would mind the potential douche factor. It was present in the first game and could be even more prevalent in this one.

I didn't get a chance to play the first game online but if I could get into the sandbox community this time it would be an amazing experience for sure. I always wanted to just cruise around the island with all the real people passing by and interacting.

Online play is a lot worse than offline in TDU 1. Don't try it, it'll ruin the fun.
TDU online was like a MMO, and one second you're cruising around alone and the next second you see some cars lagging passing by you very fast. At least that was the experience I got from playing that game when it had a reasonable number of players online.

rayy @KORNdog: TW3 can't be a Skyring well done because W3 is not trying to be Skyrin. Different games and different type of RPG I think. You could say one more fun quest than the other though. (31 minutes ago)

crookedmind ... I can't even think of what they want. Maybe expecting CoH or AoE or even a Starcraft like game, but it's not even trying to be a strategy game like that. (8 Hours ago)
  • crookedmind
crookedmind @rayy: I think so. If I hit on something later in the game that I haven't gotten to yet I'll let you know, but so far I don't see any control flaws. (8 Hours ago)
  • crookedmind
crookedmind If you took the sword work and handling from Witcher and put it in Skyrim, you have the ultimate game in that genre. Mods made Skyrim in my opinion; vanilla was stunted outside of stealth backstabbery (8 Hours ago)
  • MikeManiac61
MikeManiac61 @GriftGFX: Both games in my eyes had spotty combat. I played W3 for its story and life. As for Skyrim, the vanilla version of the game felt bland without the mods. (10 Hours ago)

GriftGFX And I think the gameplay that is there is pretty janky and pretty shallow. (11 Hours ago)
