TGS05: Gears of War presentation

TGS05: Gears of War presentation

Before the big HD video, get a tiny glimpse of what is Gears of War by now with this video: 10 minutes of gameplay (basically the E3 levels), at Microsoft's pre-TGS conference. It's beautiful, smooth and action-packed, looks very promising. But you'll have to watch it in a very little window. At least, you won't tell that we slow down your computers...
[Update]: High Quality video added.

Cant wait for your HD version. The game looks amazing, great music too. I loved the way he could provide cover fire, and the reload action towards the end was very impressive too :D

Blind firing the shotgun was amazing.

Is it strange that a 24 year old guy wants to buy action figures from a game he hasn't played yet? :D

has anyone watched the HD version, is it just me or is the sound out of synch?
Commented on 2005-09-15 13:45:49
It's out of synch for me...

If you use media player classic, try something else. If you don't use media player classic... then it's out of synch :)

Soooo, I guess it still looks like kill.switch then.
Commented on 2005-09-15 14:49:18
I own kill.switch

It doesn't look anything like it.

"It doesn't look anything like it." <- How can you type that with a straight face? I mean, I can't actually tell if your face is straight or not, but.. Let's just consider that a rethorical question.

This is SO kill.switch with warhammer people. They even share the same questionable dive animation.

I'ts in no way a killswitch why cause it has blindfire? That game is all about Co-Op Killswitch can not eeven get close to that kind of level of gameplay and im not talking about graphics

I agree, it's like saying Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid are the same game when they share only one element (sneaking.)

It's not like saying Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid are the same.

This game is similar to kill.switch in that the premise and execution of the core gameplay are EXACTLY the same. Listen to the interview, he goes on about cover and shootouts like he invented it. I heard the exact same thing from some namco dude a year or two ago, going on about kill.switch, demonstrating the exact same things with the exact same animations and the exact same emphasis on "you can't run and gun, the enemies will duck and take cover!".

From the footage shown, they are identical as far as core gameplay goes. So what if you push a car around together, it's still essentially the same game at its core. Does that mean it's bad? No, certainly not.

Oh ok I miss understood you my aplogize it is some of killswitch at it's core then

Nobody mentioned ps3 at all......
Commented on 2005-09-16 01:17:49
I think someone had it confused with God of War, hence "coming to PS2?". Then someone got that confused with PS3, probably by assumption that the first guy meant this game.

I hope some of the animation is placeholder. I'm not at all impressed with some of it, but i feel the same way about most games. That is the one really weak area in gaming that needs to catch up with the advancements in visuals. It really needs much more attention. The procedural animation techniques from NaturalMotion are promising to say the least! But, i really don't want to have to be a genious programmer to be able to create the animation that i would like to see in real-time, interactive 3D.
