That looks so generic and cluncky. It's all I can say.

Wrong and wrong...it's a great game, it really does play well especially the gun play for a Japanese dev team. I also think it looks great, the locations are real locations in the near future. It also looks great.

Oh and it's not me playing by the way. :P

This game apparently has a voice command system too and squad personality dynamics similar to Mass Effect. So I wouldn't dismiss it so soon. I think a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised.

Is the game out already? How do you know it's a great game?
Ok, the clunckyness might be because of the person playing it. But it's still looks generic to me based on that footage. The screenshots I've seen look also bland and generic. I might be completely wrong. That is why I said 'it LOOKS', not 'it IS'.

Looks pretty solid to me, however, the Gears of War cloning leaves a lot to be desired.

The animations sets are pretty good.

@droezelke I know it's a great game because I played it during TGS, I'm surprised that a Japanese studio has gotten the gun mechanics down so well. Not quite as good as Gears but for game developed by Yazuka team I've very impressed because the gun mechanics in Yazuka 5: Of the End were pretty bad.

everything about this game screams generic and clunky, still have no idea why this game is getting such praise. obviously i'd be happy if it came out and surprised me, but for now this isn't on my radar.

Played this too at the showfloor today, and have to say I went more impressed than what I was going into it. The controls felt smooth and the gameplay felt overall good (although "Gears-ish"). Even more impressed seeing how much trouble Japanese developers seem to have had with 3PS' this gen, but this felt like it could have been developed a western developer.

It's getting praise because what we've played it's played really well...considering when Sega released the 1st trailer it looked like crap but the demo at TGS really impressed everybody that played it causing people to give it praise.

About the game

What's up?
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Those aren't the same consumers buying consoles/console games. Those markets can co-exist. (2 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts I mentioned those games' genres because they have those mobile F2P systems designed to hook people. Pay $5 to get more Metal, Wood, Cloth, etc BS micro transactions. (4 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX No more console droughts when they're busy pushing the portables. (15 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX With the exception of abandoning one of those spaces all together, I'm pretty happy with their decision to consolidate everything into a single platform. That means a single dev pipeline for Nintendo. (16 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I don't think that mobile tower defense games are really a big threat to the console space. That's not the same market. (18 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Mobile is definitely a threat to the dedicated handheld space, but they're broadening their approach here. It's a console too. (19 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts Nintendo's gaming only handheld market is never gonna stop shrinking, it may be 10-20 years from now, but one day Nintendo will quit it because it just won't be worth the hardware R&D costs x sales. (22 minutes ago)
