Xbox 360

Ever since the first screenshots released the last E3, Dead or Alive 4 has always been at the center of a big controversy. Is it really a next generation game, or just an upgrade from Dead or Alive Ultimate? Well, it's a bit of both. While graphically it could certainly have been better, I think the gameplay changed enough to warrant the 4 in the game's title. I just wish Team Ninja took the time to rework the lighting and shadowing system of their engine. Otherwise, this is a great game !
I've used a brand new deinterlacing method for this video, allowing me to do a 856x480 video at 60 fps. Consider this as a test and let me know what you think of the quality !

Yeah, this game needs self shadowing. It looks good otherwise. YOu know if you beat the story for a character multipule times then each time you get a different costume for a certain amount of times you beat story mode.

This was extremely impressive the shadow thing didn't even come to mind. I'm seriously in love with this game.

Technically no screenshot or video can do this game justice. I've seen 720p trailers and screens and none look as good as the game I started playing today.

The new encoding method looks great, and the game looks exceptional as well.

The cut scenes are essentially softcore porn...crazy. What is this game rated?

great vid....it looks great...yeah self shadowing and some more lighting would be good graphicly, but not to much as if they make it look too realistic it might affect the gameplay a bit...i mean when ure fighting, all u really focus on is the opponent and wat move they will do next, not having to wait for the lighting to adjust or for them to be hard to spot in shadow or something

DOA is about the worse type of game you might want to make a high quality video from. The camera is almost always in motion, and the background is also moving/changing a lot. For example if the video had only been using the first level (the dojo) it would have been around 200 MB.
I wanted to show exactly how the game looks like, with no compromise on quality or framerate. If the game runs at 60 fps then there is no way I'd do a 30 fps video.

Lol, after watching that cutscene it appears that Team Ninja's getting pretty daring. Not that I'm complaining of course. ;)

you mean pixels? go watch it again, if you complete a game in 10 minutes you dont want an FMV about some pixels that turn on japanese teenagers, you expect something action packed that actually looks cool

Some of them are action-packed. Why don't you try actually playing the game before you pass judgement.

I have yet to see a screenshot or video that doesn't look almost identical to DOA Ultimate. I love the DOA games, but there's just nothing new here... I hope I'm wrong. That ending video was laugh-out-loud dreadful.

You can say that as many times as you want, but the fact still remains that they aren't trying to make it look realistic, so your point is moot.

Do not turn this into another RR vs DOA thread, we have had enough of those already, the games are not even that similar to begin with.

Nice one, Blim! Tell me, is this running at 60hz? It seems a little slower than some other vids I have, though that may be my pc protesting the smoother animation in the video.

Thanks again - this is what I've been looking for!

In the past five days I must've logged in at least 30 hours of playtime with DOA4, and I have to say it's one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. No other game combines beauty, brains, and fun like DOA4. The graphics are breathtaking, the music is incredibly fitting for each character, and fighting engine is very deep. Also I LOVE the team's sense of humor. Almost every character's storyline has some humor thrown into it. I'd say the game is flawless. Now meet me online so I can whup your butt!
