After a one week delay due to the Game Convention, I'm happy to finally put online the first 10 minutes of Shutokou Battle X, to be released as Import Tuner Challenge in the US and Europe. As expected, the game isn't that great, but like a lot of other japanese 360 titles released so far, it's also not bad either. The gameplay is ok, and the graphics have some nice things for them, like the shadows of the car headlights. Be aware though that some minimum knowledge about car tuning is required to get a chance against the most difficult opponents.

the ppl that played the japanese version say its good. Also famitsu gave it a pretty good score. But I don't care im gettin this regardless, TXR fan since dreamcast

I own this game and I kind of regret importing it. The frame rate isn’t all that great (I don’t feel like I’m going fast at all.) and environments are extremely dull. =\ Ridge is still the best Japanese racer.

Dude, the car BlimBlim bought is all stock...
And the car looks the same to me on screens and in the track.
Environments are the same as the games before, so If you dont like them, I suppose you never liked this game.

i have to say this looks good... about as good as carbon looks... but on a scale of 1 to 10 both are on my list about a 6 or 7

Looks really good, to bad its more than a month untill it will be released here in sweden.. I hope that you could be able to fix the steering so its not like in the old games.. but Ill still buy it as fast as possible! Thanks for the video, have been waiting since chewbacaattack asked for the video..

I hope they leave the japanese license plates in.. that was cut in some (all?) US versions :(

I hope they just translate the texts and leave the rest alone, although as the title is going to be some kind of "import tuner racer" or something I forget I don't have my hopes high.. they should just release it in the west as "Shutokou Battle X", cause that sounds badass.. import tuner racer sounds pathetic

I've also been a fan since the dreamcast, altho I didn't care much for the PS2 version.. the dual shock's analog makes the already twitchy controls damn near impossible. DC, GC, xbox, even N64 analog sticks > PS2's.

There's no steering wheel, which is great!, I think it is more inmersive in case you are using a wheel like the madcats or whatever.

Uh, Genki is definetely stuck in the past with this game. There's barely any difference between this and the Dreamcast version I played years ago. Back then, the Dreamcast version was incredible, it was something fresh, great graphics, etc etc.

There's barely any improvement with this thing, so in other words, this is a no buy for me as I don't support crap :D

Mmmm the dreamcast version didnt have:

1)Inside-car view.
2)Daybreak, midnight and night day stages.
3)Neons
4)Official cars
5)600+ oponents,bosses and wanderers
6)Online gameplay (Most important of all)
7)Battles with 3 cars at the same time
8)Detailed engine models
9)Nitrous
10)The tires actually have tread
11)Real aftermarket parts
12)Lambo doors
13)Horn
14)Better cutscenes
15)Better graphics

I could go on and on telling you all the things this game has that the previous sequel didnt, but since you like to bash games without knowing much about them I guess I'll stop here.

For example, I don't see the point in adding an in car view when it looks and feels like trash, what is the point? But hey, it's there, I guess that classifies as an improvement. And better graphics? Yes and? It stills looks like a generation behind?

well to be fair, Genkai isn't rolling in cash like some of the other devs out there. They don't have sony or ms helping them with the dev costs either, so I think they are doing the best they can with what they got.

No, im not saying that. Im just saying that ppl seem to be hard on this game because it doesn't look "next-gen", and how they haven't improved. Im saying that don't expect all that from Genkai, well in the graphics part. The improvements are a different story. They do have some, but i guess its the same as the previous versions. Just a shorter list of cars. But all of this isn't a bad thing, for TXR has always been fun to play.

But w/e I don't want to start arguements with ppl, just stating my opinion. I get some people will like and some won't. If everyone liked everything, then life would be boring

Well, I think most improvements Chewbacaattack has stated are minor but some are important and when you accumulate them all, it seems to have enough improvement to me to be worthy of being called another episode instead of a TXR 2.5 (But I could be mistaken as well since I never played any game of the series, so I don't know how the improvements are really improvements :) ).
