Do I really wana rebuy a Wii at the end of its life though .. hhmmm
Final Fantasy, Last Story... The names aren't similar at all. :P
This is slightly surprising, could be worth rebuying a Wii.

If you have a powerful enough PC, there is always Dolphin. Besides, Wii games look muuuuuch better, sharper, cleaner, not to mention, the colors seem to pop more, when rendered (not to be confused with inferior line-doubling, and/or upscaling techniques) in 1080p. Hopefully that is going to be a native feature in Wii U; rendering Wii games in 1080p. If so, then maybe holding out for a Wii U, instead of picking up a Wii, is the best course of action at this point in the game . . . that is of course, barring any issues with region locks and such from market-exclusive game releases like this. But if region locks get in your way, then there is always Dolphin.
Think Reggies said the Wii-U won't be backward compatable.
