The making of: Oblivion

The making of: Oblivion

Bethesda finally released something new from their mastodontus title, The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Bethesda aren't really spoiling us with videos, and there's only around 10 secs of ingame material in this one. But you take what you get with Oblivion.

Can't wait to try out an ES game...this one looks like it will welcome me into the series with open arms ;)

I really wanna try out the new combat system. And of course, the graphics look awesome. this game looks like more of a fantasy life-simulator than a game. Amazing how far videogames have come.

Now we know why the delay happened! They don't want us to play it.
It's obvious that these people love their game, but you've got to let your baby go at some stage.

Sorry, no scans allowed.

We have something called "forums". Use it for that kind of stuff.

I want this game already. I just wish I had my 360, which still hasn't come in yet, even though I preoredered in August. Stupid shortage.

I am so hyped about this game it's not even funny. Huge Morrowind fan, I can't wait.

This game will keep many of us busy for a while! I'm hoping this also has a lot of hidden achievements.
Commented on 2006-01-25 16:49:07
I think its more likely that people will grow and die of old age before getting all the achievements in this game :)

I actually prefer it this way--I don't care much for the games that make it a cakewalk to get all of it's gamerpoints...I look at a lot of people on my friends list with 1000 points for playing Kong--it seems everyone who has played it and finished it earned 1000 points--what's the reward in that?

Seems a lot of people are making an effort to complete the acheievements for any given game they play--basically just another way of saying, "I achieved 100%".

I like a challenge--make some of them damn near impossible. "#1 in the leaderboards" is a great achievement, for example...sure, 99% of players may not get it--but it actually means something if you did.

This game doesn't even need achievements to get people to play it for loooong periods of time...I expect there will be quite a lot of content to explore.

Sure, you can beat the main quest in Morrowind in what, ~8 minutes? And yet...I put so many hours into that game..crazy.

Firewire: I just can't wait until March...Oblivion + GRAW = one happy gamer...they may be my only two 360 purchases for a while, but they should also both keep me occupied for quite some time. I hope I can get into GRAW the way I'd like to..I'm getting it regardless..Oblivion I know will suck probably hundreds of hours away from me.

Yea I like it to grift i was just making a joke considering how long I know this game will be you are going to have to be EXTREMELY hardcore to get all the achievements.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing :)
Commented on 2006-01-25 18:04:08
Well i'm intending to get this and GRAW, i know i'm gonna be spending allot of hours in oblivion (i always like to play a rpg with different types of characters and see everything there is in the game world) and as far as GRAW goes i'm gonna be playing that with my clan and i can't wait to have some of the good ol' nights with it like i had with rainbow six on the xbox

I'm glad Bethesda and Redstorm delayed Oblivion and GRAW. Looks like the wait is paying off. GR and Elder Scroll are two very well know franchises should focus on the game and not on making the 360 launch, they made very good decisions. I'll be there when GRAW comes out. Not sure about Oblivion, I am not into 50+ hours RPGs...LOL.

Yep development teams are making alot of good decisions by waiting to release their games.

Its very good news when you constantly hear peter moore saying it doesn't matter how long bungie will have and be developing halo 3 for as long as they want even if it takes 2 years. So as the product they release is one they feel is the best it can be.

Yeah, Microsoft went ahead and took advantage of the holiday season, and that's done and over with.
No need to rush anymore titles.

About the game

What's up?
  • KORNdog
KORNdog but i don't see him as THE drake. and so i'd rather they get someone else to do that. (33 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog you don't need to see the same actor take on the role and grow up and age with it. in fact i'd rather they not do that. i can see tom holland as origins, U3 street urchin drake (34 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @droezelke: depends entirely how they tackled it. i could totally see a movie situation where a young drake is being played by holland and an older drake being played by fillion. (37 minutes ago)
  • droezelke
droezelke @KORNdog: He's a bit too old to start a possible movie franchise. I'd rather see a fairly young and good actor. On the other hand, game movies.... (1 Hour ago)
  • droezelke
droezelke @GriftGFX: His character in P&R was too unbelievable? So Nic'sk, Aubrey's, Aziz's,...characters were believable in comparison? (4 Hours ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog He really should have been Drake in movies back when firefly went down the drain. He was a good age and fitness level at that point. I'm interested to see how Tom Holland does in the role. (10 Hours ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog I think Fillion is like a perfect Drake. But he'd need some serious training to do it full justice. Right now he's a bit too out of shape. But personality wise he nails it. (10 Hours ago)
