this is a work in progress, not fair to judge graphics so far.

characters look photo realistic, even the clothes(blurry though).
but those background textures look awefully bland

I agree the characters do look almost spot on, shame about the texture detail though, maybe they will clean that up come release.

Or the Xbox 360 version. ;)

That looks like the environment is unfinished and missing a whole lot of stuff like diffuse maps or lighting, UNLESS this is a deliberate effect in which case there is just one thing to say: It looks shit. ;)

It says three images, though I only see one. Looks good though.

I think the backgrounds look weird because...i don't know if you have read the books so i'll try not to give anything away...but the place they are in is, if i remember the description correctly, is like glossy black stone, which is why there is a lack of texture detail, and i also think they are trying to make it look sorta magical because they bricks i think move around or something.
As for the player models, yeh they look good but slighty off, like look at Ron, there is something a bit wrong with the colours or something...i've noticed this in other screenshots. Maybe its that thing that is happening now with games, that the graphics look so real that when something is slightly not realistic it sticks out like a sore thumb.

To me it looks like the self shadows are too pronounced. Nobody's head casts such a dark shadow on their neck.

Sure they do; it all depends on the strength and angle of the light source.

More specifically, depends on the ratio of direct light to difuse light. Even a penlight will cast a black shadow in an unlit room. Conversely, A spotlight won't cast much of a shadow on a bright sunlit day (depending on distance of course).

Creepy, but better than the last video that I saw.

About the game

What's up?
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @KORNdog: Still very different. More like Diablo but the "game feel" is not as polished. Systems are more well designed, but I have to give it to Diablo when it comes to fit and finish. (7 Hours ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @GriftGFX: like divinity? Better or worse? Might be one i dust off the xbox for. (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX The economy is unique and will probably seem strange to new players.. but every system is cleverly tied together in PoE. (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX And yes.. the passive skill tree is pretty insane. It has a healthy mix of rigid decision making in its passive tree and flexibility in the active skill system. (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Path of Exile is an endlessly playable action RPG and Pillars of Eternity is a turn-based single player game w/ a party system. (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX No they are not.. they are both RPGs and they both have isometric cameras but that's where the similarities end. (8 Hours ago)
  • Tiz
Tiz I always confuse the PoE abbreviation with Pillars of Eternity. Are they even the same type of game? (8 Hours ago)
