Toki is back

Toki is back

Old gamers like me will shed a tear of joy when they learn that the French developpers of Golgoth Studio are currently working on a remake of Toki, one of the great classics of the late eighties and early nineties. For those of you who weren't born at the time of the Golden Age of video gaming, Toki deals with the adventure of a poor young man who has been turned into a monkey by a mean sorcerer by the name of Vookimedlo. The evil sorcerer also kidnapped the hero's girlfriend and the game is about this quest towards humanity and love - the kind of pitch you don't see that often nowadays. There seems to have been quite a huge amount of work done in redesigning the game's looks and the first images are rather exciting. The game has just been announced on XBLA and PC for the moment.

WOW :O, totally did not expect to ever hear from Toki again.. :D!
I played it back in the days on my much beloved Atari Lynx, hehe.. Though, I never made it to the end of the game; to hard and frustrating at the time (didn't have the patience to keep trying back then ;))

The remake looks awesome, so far!! Hope the animations will be good as well

Hahaha, didn't see that one coming ;)
I had this on the genesis, and i must say i have mixed feelings about this. The nostalgia is pretty high, but was the game really that good?

They should revamp more of those classic titles. I mean 3D looks fantastic... but 2D HD graphics are beautiful too. So many old 2D games would look so damn good today!

So the 2009 Toki has traded his Nike's for Puma's, how times change indeed! Shame PSN is being left out.

I wish someone would remake TIE Fighter, all these old platformers are nice and all... but that was the king of all games.

I suppose Mechwarrior will have to suffice for now.

Talk about face lift, I remember playing this at the arcades.

EDIT: I'd love to see Flashback for Genesis turned into 2D HD

I knew someone would mention that but it doesn't count, i want a full remake with new graphics and everything. Maybe some tweaked gameplay to make the game a little less confusing as well ;)

oh shit, I remember this game. Played it on arcade. The remake actually looks pretty fresh, but I'll always prefer the old version. Can't wait to play it again.
