The game will probably be great however I'm still disappointed about the new direction. Tomb Raider is about a sexy British adventurer who can side flip in the air while firing her pistols. And she also uses a grappling hook to aid in platforming and puzzles.
Here we see a game that is trying to be Uncharted, a game that was initially trying to be Tomb Raider. The whole survival aspect and Lara Croft all vulnerable and afraid is just too wrong.
Meh. The game might be really fun and chances are that I will play it, but I still miss the old Tomb Raider franchise. The last one I played was Tomb Raider Legend.
Think of it being like the Batman Begins of Tomb Raider. Forget the past
Also the UnchArted style, and action movie QTEs are popular. It's likely to only get worse too.

Same, really liking what i'm seeing, but man, her voice is god awful. Which kinda sucks because it seems to be the first time the story has had any decent effort put into it...but with a voice like that it's just going to make me cringe every time she opens her gob.
My only worry about this is puzzles... I have not seen any so far.......starting to panic a little, I dont want to gun and rpg my way through the island. I want some mind bending thinking in there too! that's the only area Tomb Raider can distinguish itself from Uncharted in a BIG way! CD needs to show us something!!!
I don't like where games might be heading but providing I get to play more of this than watching it, I'll give it a shot. Thing is everything changes and the older style TR wasn't cutting it as far as sales go
The whole games trying to be like films will eventually fall flat on it's face anyway but there is at least a good middle ground I think that will emerge at some point

I couldnt give a fuck about ground textures as long as the game looks great overall which it does. I didnt like Uncharted 2 for it's ground textures i liked it for it's gameplay.

doesn't help the fact that they went with the trolls that said that she was cartoonish and doll, and not realistic, and then they reboot her looks and forget all the top notch current gen facial animation we are now spoiled to. she reeks of botox patient.

C'mon now, there is challenge in following the on-screen prompts and having to do them over if you get the timing wrong! Sure the game might lead you down a straight path and tell you everything you need to do, but that doesn't mean it isn't challenging, right?
Besides, they are going for a "movie" like cinematic experience here (thinking would get in the way of their awesome set pieces). Apparently all game designers are now film school rejects who feel their profession is inferior to the film industry and must do everything in their power to become more "filmy"....
Well...its still just a trailer and of course, its attractive for developers to make the trailer from cinematic action sequences, so, from QTE. Bitching about QTE is just a new fashion, just like bitching about CoD games, or overused GoW cover system...bla bla. Just wait for the game, ok?!

I'm not even sure puzzles are going to make much sense in this new tomb raider, shes trapped on an island desperately trying to survive, it isn't like the old games where she was looking for artefacts, raiding tombs etc. the context has completely changed, it'd be like sitting down for a game of chess in the middle of gears of war. I feel like some grandiose aztek style puzzle with pullys and levers would feel out of place. But maybe the puzzles will simply be traversal based, ie. how do i get from here to there with the abilities i have.
