Dice and Electronic Arts yersteday announced the release of a limited edition of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and here's a trailer and some images to celebrate this event.

The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Limited Edition delivers six special customizations early to give players a day one advantage in multiplayer matches. Four vehicle warfare unlocks will immediately enhance the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 best-in-class online vehicle warfare experience, delivering extra firepower, radar, and armor for the vehicles. Additionally, the tracer dart attaches to any enemy vehicle and allows RPG-toting teammates to track, lock on, and destroy their adversary. Seasoned veterans of Battlefield 1943™ will be able to immediately re-acquaint themselves with two classic and highly powerful weapons, the M1A1 submachine gun and the M1911 pistol.

The full list of six unlocks are as follows:

Four vehicle warfare unlocks
• Improved Vehicle Armor – An up-armor package is mounted on all vehicle types, decreasing the effect of both explosive and penetrating warheads, significantly improving vehicle survivability.
• Supreme Vehicle Firepower – Additional weapon packages are mounted for the driver of all armored vehicles, greatly expanding the range of targets the vehicle can successfully engage and destroy.
• Vehicle Motion Sensor – Use this electronics warfare package to locate enemy units in direct proximity to the vehicle.
• Tracer Dart Pistol – This magnetic dart attaches to any vehicle surface, allowing squad members to track, lock on, and fire rockets onto moving targets even beyond line of sight.

Two classic Battlefield 1943™ weapons
• M1A1 Submachine Gun – Reliable but heavy this classic weapon is a powerful force in the hands of any Battlefield veteran.
• M1911 Pistol – Highly customized M1911 are favored for its dependability and the power of its large .45 caliber round.

Feel sorry for the poor sods who get the regular edition, early on it will be pretty unfair with those vehicle unlocks. Should balance itself eventually I guess.

Feels so real.

Giving an early unlock to items available in the game to everyone at some point anyways is hardly a Limited Edition...

aka I will not be getting it.

Does this SE come out for the PC version? I'm looking for something to spend the money I'm not spending on MW2, may as well be something which actually has dedicated servers.

LTD EDs and Collectors EDs are all shit, a lot of the stuff should come with the game as standard IMO specially making of and shit like that.

Some of the pre-rendered places looked cool, I liked this particular place http://images.gamersyde.com/image_battlefield_bad_... then to FPS from the cool spec ops guy.

I played the first one (beta) and I thought it was somewhat decent, main problem was the hit detection, felt off and just weird compared to COD4 (which remains one of the best alongside Crysis).

Nice graphics engine though :)

please tell me these unlockables arent for multiplayer!

DICE would be idiots to do that

Yes, it is for multiplayer. BUT here's the strange thing: the limited edition will priced the same as the normal edition. It think the purpose of this edition is to recieve more pre-orders.

The trailer is very sweet. The lighting is so good in this game.

oh... well i will probably get LE then
Commented on 2009-10-30 15:39:59
lighting and sound make this game so amazing, the first was unbelievable the new destruction will only make things more insane.

and ya their for multiplayer, its cool i want to get the LE anyway as its the same price, but i hope that all the unlocks are available from just playing the game as well and not just to LE buyers, or else the game will be very unfair especially for armored vehicles.

YEAH! BC 1 is my favorite multiplayer game! Gotta love how they even nailed how the kevlar cover looks like it's really on there, and not some helmet texture!...

BC1 is great, but it's not my favourite simply because the lag is awful. Shoot someone and they'll die a second later. Even if you shoot a door or window it'll brake with quite a significant delay.

Hopefully this will all be improved on BF2.

I wasn't a fan of the last one's multiplayer. Animations where odd, 90% of people camped to snipe & hit detection was suspect at times. Could have been cool so this time I'll keep my hopes low.

I am looking forward to single player though.

It seems pointless to me to have to fire something at the helicopter, to fire something at the helicopter. Why doesn't the first man just fire the rocket?

Two stones one bird.

Well I was one of the ones that really had a lot of fun with the first one so if they fix the right stuff then this could really be a standout game.

The fact that it takes a lot less damage to kill someone has me really excited about this game as that was a problem with the first game. Made it feel too much like a Halo style game.

Love the visual design. Much better than most military games these days.

I do agree with that, but I still like it the best. I like the realistic execution, but it does have some aspects that are annoying( so does every other game though). I think the feeing of weight is spot on, and I like the dynamic team play when you have people who know how to play as a team. I love how you have to lead your targets, but I hate how damn many bullets it takes to take someone down. COD takes too few for guys wearing body armor, though. Anyway, they should make where you shoot them affect them more( leg hits slow 'em down, etc) and not just head shots...

hmmm and all this is only available if you pay more? does that not raise questions on balancing a multiplayer game?

Good video.. but what its advertising is simply a small step away from the micro management rumour complaint that followed the first Bad company. Instead of paying to unlock weapons in game.. you're paying extra to get them at point of purchase. This is a multiplayer focused game dont forget.. such advantages simply dont benefit the balance of the game
Commented on 2009-10-30 22:06:27
^You don't pay more. It's the same price. LE is the version you get if you pre-order.
Commented on 2009-10-31 02:12:32
where does it say it will be priced the same as the regular edition? or that once the games released the extra stuff wont be charged as dlc?

Its still 2 seperate versions of the game... ones still offering additional weapons over the other. They should keep "extra's" for single player alone.

^ The Official battlefield blog has a Q&A on this.
Commented on 2009-10-31 03:11:38
It is the same price, because the "limited edition" only includes those unlocks. It does not include steel book, figures, artbooks etc.
