Trailers of Midnight Club LA

Trailers of Midnight Club LA

Rockstar released these three trailers of Midnight Club: Los Angeles, to be released in October on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Don't forget to watch the gameplay video from GC we posted here earlier if you haven't, the game looks pretty impressive. The first trailer is just an English version of one we had up earlier, but the other two should be new.

I was really looking forward to getting this but have serious doubts after seeing the gameplay video from Leipzig. It's a shame they decided to stay so over-the-top arcade style. The physics for the cars look like crap. Why won't any developer take an arcade racer a little more seriously like PGR. I'm not looking for a sim, just something were it's not just bouncing off walls and twitchy steering. NFS Prostreet made an attempt last year but failed. I think it's starting to look very odd that the graphics look so real and yet the cars handle and move so fake. Again, it doesn't have to be like Gran Turismo or be boring, there's plenty of room in between.

Also, couldn't they come up with a better idea for the checkpoints than some ugly smoke trail in the middle of the road. And why bother putting pedestrians in the game if you can't hit them and they just clip right thru your car?!?

NFS Undercover might be a little better, but the early videos of that didn't look too hot either.

You basically what Need For Speed Underground 2 that game is still one of my favourite games ever if you haven't played it, do so. I would love if the latest need for speed straddled along same lines (gameplay) as NFSU 2 but it seems highly unlikely.

We're not talking about the idea or concept for the game or even which one's better overall. We're just talking about the handling and physics for the cars.

Have you seen the gameplay video? I was a massive fan of the older games, but this one seems far too arcadey and I think i'll give it a miss.

It's not like we're doing a final review of the game already, it's just obvious from the gameplay video that there's some issues with control and vehicle physics. The customization has always been great in the series, but first and foremost it's a racing game and it needs to lay the groundwork for good handling in the cars.

Try Grid, that game has the prefect balance between arcade and sim.

And it's very pretty :)

About the game

  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Rainbow Six Siege operators deliver their lines better. (8 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @AndreasZ94: Yea.. I'm not even sure the script is that bad. I've only heard a few real scenes (which are much better than the squad chatter). But man the voice over on a whole is quite poor. (9 minutes ago)
  • AndreasZ94
AndreasZ94 @GriftGFX: The premise is basically taking down a drug cartel, right? There are a lot of cool story things they could do with this concept but they just didn't care (10 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Sandbox games can have good voice acting/stories... Wildlands just doesn't seem to be one of them :D (14 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Siege and For Honor are both good games. I think they've been on a bit of a role lately. Hell the narrative in The Division.. a multiplayer focused RPG.. is better than Wildlands so far. (16 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @AndreasZ94: Watch Dogs 2 was fairly well received and it's a fairly recent game. But sure there are a few multiple games in there. (17 minutes ago)
  • AndreasZ94
AndreasZ94 South park is by far their most story driven game. The core of their AAA games are shooter sandboxes and mp "service" games like FH, R6S (32 minutes ago)
