I loved Olivier Derivière's scores for Alone in the Dark 2008 (the only redeeming aspect of that game) and Remember Me, good to have him onboard, but am still cautious about hyping this game too much. Heavens know we need more good vampire games.

We need more vampire games , period. Vampire the masquerade games need to come back, they'd sell well nowadays when Rpgs are far more popular. i think.
I know i don't want an MMO...

I'm still cautious about Vampyr because too much story could hide some barebones gameplay.

I'll listen to some of Derivière's work. Music is such an important part of immersion in games(movies and tv shows are the same).

This needed a bigger budget.

Agreed guys, vampire games ftw! The best of all being The Legacy of Kain, gameplay may not have been the best, but what a story.

Definitely interested in this. Great atmosphere and choice of setting and narrative focus.

This makes no sense for multiple reasons.

This could be another Remember Me situation but i hope not. I want the studio to succeed with something more ambitious, also.because the premise for this game is awesome. Personally im expecting a rough around the edges kind of game ( subpar facial expressions, animations etc) but hopefully the rest is great. Combat wise im not expecting much either but as long as its decent and the narrative is good im fine

it's the ambition that's kicking this game in the nuts imo. they're suffering Spiders/Piranha Bytes syndrome, where they clearly have a specific size of team with a certain level of talent and a specific budget and yet they seem to be aiming to compete with the AAA market and failing. know your limits and work to your strengths. don't just shoot for the stars and hope for the best, the results usually end up being a janky, boring, generic mess (see elex/bound by flame/technomancer/remember me)

Melmoth i'm guessing a few more months before we hear anything from nvidia. they've been happy enough with the current lead and supply shortage. so no need to hurry i guess (21 minutes ago)

GriftGFX @Melmoth: Cool.. when is nvidia announcing new desktop cards? Never? :D (28 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth will be used for things like shadows and reflections. Looks like a logical way forward, and won't require completely new rendering pipelines. (44 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth Frostbite, UE and Unity are implementing support. Were' not talking about full bruteforce raytracing pipeline here, but more a combination of tradidional rasterization and raytracing, where raytracing (46 minutes ago)

Melmoth @droezelke: This is a proper push, as in not just future tech, but for (partly) realtime raytracing that's being put out there in the near future. Both the API and the hardware (nvidia volta) (48 minutes ago)

droezelke Now, it's just another tech demo. I mean, the Unreal 4 engine has amazing tech demo''s, but it hasn't been seen in any game. (53 minutes ago)

droezelke @Melmoth: Yeah, we know that eventually real time graphics will look like that. It would be more exciting if it was possible today (55 minutes ago)
