Vehicles in Operation Flashpoint 2

Vehicles in Operation Flashpoint 2

Codemasters are showing various features and objects in Operation Flashpoint 2 these weeks, today it's time for the vehicles. The game is set to be released in early October.

Codemasters press release:

Witness the awesome power of modern military hardware as Codemasters® launched the new ‘Vehicles’ video for Operation Flashpoint®: Dragon Rising™, the shooter that’s set to take players as close to war as they’ll ever want to get, available to view at www.flashpointgame.com.

The ‘Vehicles’ video showcases a selection of the exhilarating vehicles which feature in Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, including the Z10 Attack Helicopter which unleashes hell from the sky, the rapid response FAV Fast Attack Vehicle and Type-95 Self Propelled Anti-Aircraft Gun. Each vehicle is authentically recreated, complete with accurate weapon systems, and the extensive range of hardware demonstrates the diversity and devastating fire-power that contemporary fighting forces deploy into a combat zone.

Both PLA and USMC vehicles can be commandeered in Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, including tanks, jeeps, helicopters and APCs, giving gamers increased freedom in choosing their tactics and empowering players to attack from any direction, from the ground or the air, on the fully-open 220km² sandbox island of Skira.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising will set the new standard for sandbox shooters when it arrives October† 6th/8th/9th for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and PC. Race to the front line with the new ‘Vehicles’ video, now available online at www.flashpointgame.com. It's looking really good !! I'm starting to like this game, but only buying until the price drops to 30€. This and the other dozens of quality games coming out this fall...

I'll certainly buy this game before I get Modern Warfare 2 or Battlefield BC and such.

I think this looks exciting...Realistic shooters have sort of gone the way of the 2D fighter—not popular, but when they're made, they have a hardcore following because they're often very good.

In fact, the vehicles move better in this trailer than in many of Codemasters' racing games!

I doubt that...this is like a simulator compared to Bad Company. Helis will be harder do control I think...

Surprised theres no planes
Probably because the inclusion of planes would compromise realism. Witnessing F-16's or F-18's doing U-turns in the sky in other games, maybe the absence of planes in OFP2 is not such a bad thing.

About the game

What's up?
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker @KORNdog: it's a shame though. 360 had a lot of these games but they are all gone now. I guess they don't only not sell on Japan, neither in the West too. (2 Hours ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @Moonwalker: unless he takes a few truck loads of cash with him...no. (3 Hours ago)

Moonwalker I wonder if Phil Spencer's visit to Japan is going to change anything. (4 Hours ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker However of all recent Japanese games, I'd say Nier would actually sell decently on it. Of course not in Japan but I bet quite a few people in the West would buy it. I would. (4 Hours ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker @asdfg: Not necessarily talking about here only but in general. I think we all know that most Japanese games sadly don't sell on Xbox. (4 Hours ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker @nostradamus: Oh it sure is fun. Combat feels really nice, especially when you get to do the executions. The thing is, there is a shit load of combat and it can get repetitive. How much does it cost? (4 Hours ago)
