Virtua Tennis 3 images

Sega released these great images from Virtua Tennis 3, showing some really impressive player models. I don't have any idea why they have the player descriptions ("fast runner") in the HUD during gameplay though.

Any indication which version these are from? They look a little... strange in places.

360 or PS3 ?

Shame they didn't have some bump mapping on the courts.

It's lookig pretty good though, do they plan to have this over live ?

Sumo Digital is handling it, and going by their fantastic Outrun 2 home conversion I'd expect this to have online play aswell yeah.

And jesus I'm looking forward to it. :)

No sorry, Sega released them as both PS3/X360. They're not Arcade anyway.

They were in the resolution 1360x768, really really strange (which = 1280x722). I haven't seen that before, they are often 15(xx)x(xxx), or 1920x1080.

1360x768 = arcade version. It's the resolution of the LCD monitors they use for the VT3 cabinets.

Yeah these are arcade shots.. But I guess everyone said already.

Screenshots don,t show the true power of the graphics, i like screen 5 and 6.

Thanks for the heads-up, I guess you learn something new everyday.

I thought there was power and then there was graphics, but maybe there's graphics under the hood and power on the screen. :O

Xen-like revelations, only at XY!

Looks no better than Top Spin 2, and thats the truth.

Looks good, and fun, i'm buying it.

The lighting is unbelievable.

Wow, I'd rather buy this game over Top Spin, I like the gameplay more.

These screens look like the console version since you don't see the [Credits] at the bottom of the screen.

Also the thing under the players names seems to be something like, the player's special skill?

I think it is looking good.

Looks ok. Some of the courtside NPCs are a little lacking in the polys department.

I recon they need some kinda particle modelling for all the dust on the surface of the clay courts.

Btw, anyone know why they have the players listed as '1P' and '2P.' seems more logical to have them as 'P1' and 'P2' as an abbreviation of 'Player 1' and 'Player 2.' Just strikes me as being odd.

Because they should be listed as 1UP and 2UP, they dropped the U. Oldschool terms should never die!

And the game is looking great! It has a sort of hand-textured feel to it instead of strict photo texturing. It's overall a good mixture of realism and art, and the quality is excellent in both art and tech. Looks to be actual framebuffer grabs aswell, with crisp pixels and modest AA (aka the perfect mixture). Go SEGA!

looks alright

I FOUND IT OUT. They've used WAY MORE detail on the faces than the rest of the body

the hand looks wonky here. and Federrer looks like a Zombie! "NO I don't want to be in this game, i loved Top Spin franchise!"
Quite impressed by the crowd though.

I want this game :D

Because they should be listed as 1UP
Er, that's the old school term for continue, not player 1.
