XB Showcase: Tomb Raider on One X

XB Showcase: Tomb Raider on One X

We have been allowed to capture the first level of the Xbox One X version of Rise of the Tomb Raider at the Xbox Showcase in London a few weeks ago. Here it is split into 4 videos, showing the 3 video modes in action: 4K enriched (Better textures and SSAO among others, non native), 4K native and 1080p 60 fps.
We try to show the difference a mode does by switching from one to the other during the video. There is no specific video for each mode.
Update 2: Added a second and final video reencoded to HEVC so you can watch it directly on your 4K TV.

So numbers 1 and 2 are 4K enriched, 3 is native 4K and 4 is 1080p/60fps? I ask this because they show as 60fps for all of them.

All 4 show various modes, I switch in between them. They are all captured at 4K 60fps because that's what the console always outputs.

Apparently, people at MS didn't know what they were doing when they set up everything. Blim brought back some supposedly HDR footage, but it turned out it wasn't HDR.

Oh bummer, why is MS so incompetent? But thanks for the 4k footage guys.

This game is on 360, Xbone then it came to PC and after than PS4,PS4P now on the X. I wonder if they will release it on Nintendo and then on next gen console as well at 4K 60fps. Not hating on this game. I know this game did not do well Xbone but surely by now they would made enough money. They keep adding some gfx settings and releasing this game. Little weird

has anyone seen the movie yet? I think the game still looks better. ROTR also has a better Lara.

the movie though seems pretty interesting. better than The Cradle of Life.

Its just a shame about her god awful voice actress. Lol

Although the new movie seems to have hired an actress who has never ran in her entire life and wasn't even trained to hold weapons properly. She looks so awkward. Lol.

there actually hasn't been a decent live action movie game in ages. Hitman 2015 sucked. Resident evil movies have always sucked. Brendan fraser pretty much killed it for any Uncharted movie. "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and "the mummy" have already been played to death in the theaters.

so that leaves Metal Gear Solid as a possible.

Harrison ford you mean. Brendan fraser became a typecast Harison ford in the 90s-early millennium. then came Noah Wyle with "the librarian" Anthology.

No doubt Harison ford, Brendan fraser and Noah Wyle have killed it for an Uncharted movie. each actor has produced at least 20 movies total killing anyone's love for the subject in theaters.

Rambo + The Terminator = Metal Gear Solid. So said kojima when it came to inspiration. I think movies have always been the template for video games. so it's going to be even harder for a game to make a movie breakthrough.

Both Tomb Raider and Uncharted got nothing on harrison ford in the theaters.

They are obviously targeting first time owners. But may be some people would buy it anyways to see it themselves by having 2 consoles version at sametime in different HDMI port.

Nice, looks awesome! Thanks for the vids.

I have a mega PC but I have to say the Xbox One X is going to own.

i'm hopeful for uncharted now they have the stranger things director, a new script and tom holland as lead. the dude's spiderman, he already has the charisma down. if they can essentially make a new indiana jones without calling it indiana jones and without it sucking as much as the most recent indiana jones, then i think they'll be onto a winner.

That looks absolutely stunning! How long will Sony give MS of having the most powerful console ever built? PS5 next year?
Commented on 2017-09-21 14:08:27 In reply to Xoar
i'll give it 2-3. nothing is going to change sales wise either way, so sony can just coast until the gen ends. plus they have too many exclusives they still need to get out the door to be dropping the PS4 and moving on. i mean, we don't even know what sucker punch has been working on since second son.

They are grand, base console is still a little GDDR5 beast capable of easily running a game like Horizon Zero Dawn at native 1080p and practically locked 30fps and incredible optimisation.
STANDARD PS4 owners still have so much more to look forward to with TLOU Part II topping out another console generation :)

The estimate projection is 3 years (minimal) from the Ps4 Pro launch. 2 years for the announcement - in E3 2019. if there is no announcement by E3 2019 then it will be another year later.

As for the next Xbox, Microsoft projected 3-4 years from Scorpio's launch. I tried to find the article where it was mention but it seems to be buried in other news articles. or it was taken down. MS did mention this year that there will NOT be a new console in 2 years. so it's either 3 or 4.

The only movies that get great reception are either ones based on real events, books or marvel. no body cares for movies based on video games.

I thought the AC movie was pretty decent with Michael Fassbender. and the quest for the apple of eden.
Commented on 2017-09-22 00:39:32
the only good source material for the Uncharted movie would be the "spear of longinus". anything else mythical and no body would care for it. Harison Ford did the Tabernacle of Christ and that got great reception. Tomb Raider is currently covering the holy trinity.

GriftGFX And plenty of those examples are online PVP games too. Quake Champions probably isn't one of them :D (2 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @MrWhite: No, not really. There are loads of examples of games with microtransactions that don't influence the game design or pollute the basic user experience. (2 Hours ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite Could you imagine back when arena shooters like Q3A were very popular, and the cunts introduced pay to win bollocks like EA, 2k, Activision et al are doing? Imagine what that would have done. (4 Hours ago)

MrWhite meanwhile on the other end, some kid who just bought the game is playing as Wigan, but they're playing like Real Madrid and giving your superstars a tanking. Time to dip into your pocket to buy packs (4 Hours ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite Online play is so heavily scripted, your team inexplicably feels like a bunch of fat pub players in a sunday league side, and you're supposed to be in control of world class athletes (4 Hours ago)

MrWhite I mean, if you look at Fifa online, I've been saying for years that thing is a fix and my mates looked at me like I was mental. (4 Hours ago)

MrWhite @GriftGFX: But you know it will in some shape or form. It hurts the game by default just by being there in the same way microtransactions and all that other shite does. (4 Hours ago)
