A bit late but here is the latest dev diary of XCOM: Enemy Unknown where Firaxis talks about the base, the place where the player will be elaborating offensive and defensive plans against the invading enemies. The game will be out on October 9th (12th in Europe).

one boss isn't lighting. all levels of DS have different composition of lighting for the level and not a simple and unique GI. (35 minutes ago)
