This means FOR SURE that they're ditching the approach they took with the eminent Unreal Championship 2. (naming it UT3 is just weird considering how the other two were called championship !?!?!?)

I'm with you on this one Simon. I actually find this mildly disapointing, because I would like to play this game the way it was designed to be played (with a mouse and keyboard, with large dedicated servers) and I really would love to see another Unreal Championship game. UC2 was so good. I guess the hope for such a thing is more or less lost now. I actually like the new name though, they're obviously not going to follow a yearly schedule, so why not. UT99 is obviously UT1, 2k3/2k4 share the honor of being #2 for being so simular--it sorta makes sense.

Still great news for people who don't play PC games.

I'll stick with the PC version, but it is nice to have it available on the 360 as well. I already have a pretty high end PC, just waiting on ATI's DX10 card to hit shelves before I decide what DX10 card to get and i'll be all set on the new PC games coming out.

not really news since we all knew this was coming, but it's good to have an official announcement. Its funny too, one of my friends, who was pimping this game to no end before, now has retracted that statement and is now saying its mediocre. Lol I love my fanboy friends, really I do.


Knowing me, I'll probably pick up the PC and 360 version :P

Watched the trailer, nice callback to the first UT with the intro speech, although with a manly generic voice instead of sexy UT woman.

The only UT game I played was the first one out on the Xbox (it was one of the first Xbox Live games) and I struggled to get into it, found it too fast for me. Never gotten hands on a version since.

I was wondering though, would Epic be expecting this to sell more than Gears, given the multi-platform release?

Do you really want to play against kb+M players in UT? Guess it could work with the right filters. It would be nice to be able to play on PC dedicated servers.

Actually, I reckon if there's one game out of all the popular arcade shooters that might work with a pad against mouse it's this. Lots of long distance stuff and rocketing.

I hope not! Could you imagine the slaughter that would take place in those matches if it was kb+m against controllers? I wouldn't mind trying it out to see what it was like though.
