Right. I guess what I meant to say was that the new guide is better than the old guide, but the old dashboard is better than the new one...in my opinion of course.

It probably has something to do with everybody and his/her grandmother/grandfather linking the avatars straight from the site to every forum in the godforsaken world.

so far its a lot nicer looking and easier to navigate...when it works properly. atm i've had a total of 4 arror messages and 2 crashes.

Yeah i am very fond of the old blades, but i have to say i have been mucking around on the NXE for an hour now and its growing on me more and more, looks so much more slick and its much quicker waiting for some friends to go online to try out this party system, Horde here i come :)

Yeah, the install feature really makes the 20 gig harddrive seem puny...but no way in hell am i forking out for a bigger one...they are just too expensive.

Amazing improvement. It's runs a lot more smoothly than the previous dashboard and it looks far cooler as well.

Lot less cluttered and not as big a hassle to navigate through. I also like the small touch of being able to manipulate the avatar with the right analog stick. I gave my avatar some expensive looking glasses that fancy white suit with the white gloves to go with it and the all white shoes.

Oh and the most anime type hairstyle I could find with a small beard. My next avatar design will be Obama :)

I'm really enjoying the dashboards new feel and look ... love it so far. But I heard there are problems with custom soundtracks when playing games from the harddisk ... hope they'll be able to fix that, because I already installed six games (Gears2, Banjo, Fallout, Midnight Club LA, FarCry2 and Saints Row 2) and I need my music when playing Saints Row 2 ...

I was sceptical at first but the new dash is growing on me.

Avatars are really well done, and seeing how your friends match their likeness is pretty cool.

I do have a few nits to pick though:

-I hate how the dash boots directly to the Spotlight channel and not My Xbox. Adverts grrr!

-It would have been so much more convenient to have your Friends Channel directly above or below the My Xbox channel.

-Pressing Left Trigger takes you anywhere but My Xbox and Friends. Whilst Pressing the Right Trigger takes you to My Xbox but not Friends :/

If they could fix these I would be a much happier bunny.

But like I said those are niggly problems and overall it's a pretty cool system.

So far I am fairly impressed with NXE. Has anyone tried installing a game on the HDD? I was going to install Gears 2 but I didn't see any indication of how much space it would take up.

Not too impressed to be honest. New market place is just bad. Okay it looks cool with all those fancy boxarts but man the old list version was so much faster to use. It loads so slowly every window argh. Installing the games doesn't show how much it will take space WTF.

Also streaming didn't work right away from my PC. I had to try that PC connection test first and it gave me a error so I restarted the whole thing and it worked after that. At least it works again.

Spotlight channel as my default blade? Great! Guide is fun too... some of the blades suggest stuff to buy to your last played game :/ There was button to VF5 item pack 1 in the blade... other than that the new guide is great.

My wallpaper looks bad now too and well there was some cool things too but overall I don't like the new Xbox experience.

Don't let the new dashboard dazzle you into thinking it's the best place to navigate stuff when you know what you're after. It's more like walking down the street in a shopping district, letting stuff in the display windows catch your eye.

The guide now acts as the online shop equivalent where you assault whatever it is you're after, and that goes for.. basically everything.

It takes some getting used to since the old guide was pants, but yeah, solution to your dashboard woes is pretty much always in the new guide I dare say.


But I have another question for the masses in the know; is it possible to use your gamerpic in the "real" Windows Live Messenger?

It's ridiculous that people with a gold account still have to look at adverts.. I mean the only thing that separates gold from silver users is the multiplayer and the demo's who show up a week early... I hoped we would get rid of the advertisement with the NXE

I think it's an improvement (the speed increase is a godsend), but really, some things downright pissed me off. As an example, like Isomac said, my background wallpaper sucks, they stretched it like hell, it's hidden in the background which makes it useless.......and when I go through the pain (still, sadly) of looking to download new themes, I could not find ONE free theme........not ONE in about 10 minutes of searching. That is just ridiculous.

What I'm trying to say is that some fundamentals are just ......"fundamentally wrong" as Obama would say. Who the hell PAYS to advertise a game? What crackhead came with the idea, and who the hell is actually PAYING TO ADVERTISE GAMES!? That is ridiculous. I found that 50% of my "updated" friends were wearing the same shirt as my avatar, the same pants, AND same shoes. Of course, they will charge us if we want more, they'll throw us a bone now and then, and the raping will continue.

Also, I went to the "new releases" area of "games" and it shows me UNO :|
Yeah I guess that is new........
