Loved Creek, using the tunnels is really cool. Broadcast is total carnage, I like it though.

Not sure about Chinatown, I wasn't a big fan of the original in COD2.

Haven't seen Killhouse properly yet, but loaded it up for a private game and seems a bit.... naff... think the soft cover may be interesting though

there's 2 new playlists down the bottom, TDM and Team Objective.. both new maps only... eventually they'll combine them I guess, with a non DLC playlist set

Also you can play them in system link and split screen which pleases me... Creek is massive, so split screen free for alls would be a laugh.

I also think Creek is a PERFECT Capture the Flag map, if they ever add it

Creek was fun, but Chinatown and Broadcast was not worth the money. Killhouse have i only played in Private Match... don`t know if it can be played elsewhere.

I got very dissapointed after bought this map pack. Guess i will play the old map`s.....

Love it.

Broadcast is brilliantly thought out level design. Every single area of it creates amazing firefights and it's balanced well between large open area combat and the closer corridor style encounters. Creek also works well in this regard. While it is excellent for sniping it also has many sections suited to close/medium range combat.

Chinatown I'm not as excited about. It's a great map but I've played it before in COD2 basically and I am finding it very hard to get familiar with the layout. There's so many buildings with similar interior layouts that it makes it hard to remember which one is which. Killhouse is only in cage match and team tactical at the moment so I haven't really had a chance to play it yet. I played one cage match on it and it was OK.

I'm happy with the maps but it does seem like they should have been free.

"In addition to that details are being finalized as to getting the map pack to the PC users as well. I can’t speak specifics just yet as everything is being cemented now, but it sounds like good news."

Read this over at fourzerotwo's blog. It's a bit ambiguous but to me it sounds like they could be free on the PC. I can't imagine that announcing a price for these maps on PC would be considered good news.

http://iamfourzerotwo.com/

If you read the newest post on the blog there is some interesting information about the community maps. I'm very interested to hear more about that.

The best news would be if they would just NOT release any maps for PC at all.

If they put a price tag, any decent PC gamer would just laugh at such stupidity.

If they don't put a price tag, selling them for the Xbox 360 would be just too hypocritical.

Well, they ARE being released and it may be hypocritical but it wouldn't be the first instance of such a case. I'm pretty sure that's exactly what happened with one of the GRAW games.

for 3 TDM maps, its quite expensive imo. 400 would have been much more fair.
i enjoyed them though
but... im kinda board already... lol
i'll deffo have a week more of playing em though
they are well made and well put together

if they release another pack though, i'll rather have the money, i can buy a few pints for that.

Broadcast plays great. Probably the best map in the game in my opinion. Creek is really cool and looks great. China town kind of plays like crap, least for how I like to play the game - it's really chaotic if you're into that kind of thing. I have yet to play Kill house in a public game.

It's a decent map pack overall - I don't feel ripped off but I still think these DLC's are overpriced in general.

Free would have been best, 400 spot on... 800 a bit overpriced for 3.5 maps. But I'm loving it nonetheless. Thanks for dividing up the community IW. :( I would have been estatic if they had been 5 maps instead of 3.5 (killhouse not being any good really for any other gametypes except free-for-all and cage match.)

Broadcast is my favorite by far. Excellent map. And they all look excellent. I've been bouncing between RB6Vegas2 and COD4, and there is a big difference graphically. COD4 still owns RB6's Unreal Engine.

I can't wait to see what other DLC maps they come up with at IW and with the user created maps too.

The latter is the best case scenario. I know that people may be upset, but they need to face facts, and your third scenario is actually what's best for the future of gaming. Unless of course you want to see an industry completely devoid of free post release support.

I've seen the maps, they're nice. Chinatown is really quite neat... it took me a minute to recognize the different parts of the map with the extremely alternate tile set. They all look pretty nice--but not 1/5 (or 1/6th) the total cost of a retail game nice--and certainly not divide and conquer your own audience nice.

UE3 can create some stunning visuals. Ubisoft put very little effort into making the mulitplayer portion of Vegas look on par with the campaign. If they had, the difference (so far as the level of quality) visually would not be so drastic between these two games.

Some of these winning maps should be appearing on consoles

Some of the maps at the above link, look pretty good.

This is me speculating only:
I'd expect them to announce winners before the end of April, IW artists to get their hands on the maps to adjust them Balance, test, tweak improve them through May, June, Testing in July off to certification in August and in our hands before September.

With the new DLC causing LIVE to come to a screeching halt for some of Friday the day of their release, I sure it is lining their coffers. I'm betting heavily that IW has plans to come out with 2 or 3 more DLC offers in the next year... just don't nickle and dime us to death and give us the user created maps for free.
The Community Mapping Content has come to an end and we’ll be putting out an open call for all the maps you guys have created to be submitted as well as releasing details on the prizing and how the winning maps may be showing up. We have some awesome prizing I’m anxious to finalize and announce to you guys. I’ve been keeping tabs on the Beta / Released maps in the Mapping forums on Infinityward.com and there are some great ones.
COMMUNITY MAPPING CONTEST

We have launched the official Mod Tools for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on the PC and to celebrate, we’re holding a ‘Community Mapping Contest’ which allows you, the community, to take map making into your own hands and create custom multiplayer maps for the #1 selling game of 2007.

What’s your dream map? Wide open spaces perfect for sniping, or close quarters combat with plenty of cover to bound back and forth from? Maybe a nice mixture with plenty of avenues to attack from and some perfect choke points you can ambush from with the right amount of team work. Whatever you think makes a good multiplayer map, we want to see it. Most importantly, we want your best work.

On March 31st, we’re going to be choosing our favorite community made maps and award the map makers of our favorites picks with special prizing and opportunities which we can’t announce just yet but will be in the very near future (probably within a week). However the clock is ticking to get your map designed, as I said, we’ll be choosing our favorite community made custom multiplayer maps on March 31st.
Things To Keep In Mind

1 - Design your maps around your platform of choice (PC, Xbox 360, or PS3); as you never know where it could end up.
One more thing, design your custom maps around your platform of choice, so just because you’re mapping on the PC doesn’t mean your maps have to be designed for Mouse and Keyboard, if you have a cool design you think would work great on the Xbox 360 or PS3 then make it happen, the possibilities are endless on where it could end up.
Some examples of better looking ones...

Wow, those maps look great. I hope they get a console release. Broadcast is winning me over, slowly. I went with my "Solid Snake" load out on that map (Silenced M16, UAV jammer, dead silence) and went 29-5. Yeaaaa boooiiii! Creek is still my favorite, even though snipers find me faster than the media finds Paris Hilton.

I need to find a custom maps server that has some kind of ya know, quality control. I was playing on a CTF server last night and there were tons of custom maps on it, but the level of quality was all over the place.

I love the CTF mod too, but it needs some work. Some maps just aren't suitable for 32 player CTF matches. 32 players + 3 choke points + 2 flags = fail! It would be fantastic for 5v5+ though.

What the fuck do you need dead silence for when you're camping in a corner with an M16? ;)

All BS to me, consolegamers simply get sqeezed out for that extra bit of cash and they know they can't get away with that on the PC.. So now they stick a Nvidia sponsorship on it to justify it being free.. But this stuff has always been free on PC, and why then aren't these sponsorships possible on the consoles? I think they are possible, but why leave that extra bit of cash? Premium DLC obviously works on the consoles (look at the ammount of DLC sales), so you can't really blame them.. Nothing you can do aslong as consolegamers fuck themself by buying this stuff en masse..

They are possible--the Discovery Channel sponsored the first map pack download for Gears of War. I think Epic may be more aggressive this time around in pre-arranging free DLC for Gears 2 though, regardless of their sponsors.. and you would think that given the practical guarantee that Gears 2 will be a huge success that MS will listen to Epic this time around, maybe.
