Stop the presses, since when do you have anything good to say about Gears of War? I know you like Killzone, but I was under the impression you weren't too fond of Gears, or do you now have a change of heart to get in shots at dat reigning GOTY champion Halo 4 :P (joking, if I remember you loved Gears on the PC)

The point is it goes without saying that people like those games, that was kinda the point of why I picked those two particular games as examples. They sell very well for a reason. I don't begrudge anyone their opinion. If they like a game, they like a game. I'm not saying there aren't people that like them, I even use to be one of those people after the first gears of war, but exactly what does the fact that people like them have to do with my own opinion of those same games compared to, in my eyes, a much superior game in Halo 4? I've been criticizing Gears on this forum now for quite some time as basically becoming more generic and not having much of interest to offer after the original game, where I really felt most of what it was trying to do worked exceptionally well. The sequels I thought largely lost the appeal of the first in a big way. The Gears games are actually pretty good games, not games that I'm particularly fond of as of late, but they are solid games. I should know, I beat them all except judgment, but they are not, in my view, better games than Halo 4. That's the difference here. I loved Halo 3, but after playing COD4, said on this very forum that COD4 took a massive crap on Halo 3. Did that suddenly mean Halo 3 was no longer good? Of course not. But, even if I like a game, when I think there's a superior game, I say so, and I don't believe any of those games to be better than Halo 4.

To be honest, I don't think any Gears of War game has ever been better than any Halo title, with perhaps the exception of ODST. And to Gears of War's credit, even if I've grown tired of that franchise after the first release, it's actually still a much more fun game to play than Killzone will ever be, and that still hasn't changed. Killzone is literally just great graphics. I've rarely seen a more generic, more boring, and more badly designed game in my life, but somehow it gets a great score on metacritic, which I think is mostly just hype. The Killzone titles have always been average at best, in my eyes, but what can I say, people like it. Opinions are just opinions, after all. They are only fact in the eyes of the person expressing them. Some people that have played Halo 4 here seem to think it sucks. That's fine. Most disagree, clearly. Scoobs, I'm assuming you haven't played it? Because from all my time knowing you, you've never really struck me as liking Halo all that much, and if you haven't, I really do think Halo 4 could change your mind about the series. There's many people I know personally that never thought Halo was ever really all that good to begin with. It was all about COD in the morning, COD during the day, COD at night, COD to cure the common cold, COD to improve your sex life (*cough* Phaethon *cough*), that sorta thing :D, and they are now pretty big fans of Halo after Halo 4. So, who knows, maybe Halo 4 can make a believer out of you, too. I believe it would.

And halo fatigue... I always get a laugh out of that one. Tell me how many sequels Gears of War has, or how many Killzone is getting, or Uncharted. The halo fatigue line is more tired than halo ;). Which version of God of War are we on now? I've lost track. And Phaeth, Halo MP has always been average, imo. I never believed for a second that it was as good as people were saying it was, and from the little time that I've had with it, while I had some fun, I felt it didn't live up to the reputation, but then when console gamers are so use to average to terrible MP titles for so long (people thought goldeneye and perfect dark were amazing), I guess it would make some sense that when one comes along and seems more than halfway competent, and is also conveniently attached to a pretty great and very popular SP campaign, that it might seem like the best thing since sliced bread.God, do I have to fix everything around here!? :P

You implied that halo 4 was clearly better than those games.... according to who exactly (obviously you but you get my point)? Didn't read the rest as I'm almost 99% sure that it has no substance.

It is absolutely better than those games. Clearly better. That's kinda the point, if you aren't getting it. It's my genuine opinion of those games based on actually playing them. I don't pretend to speak for all, so don't get your panties in a bunch if I hurt your feelings. I'm speaking based on the games that I have actually played. Not going based on what this or that person says. The point is to highlight that metacritic isn't an authority on anything. That's a collection of opinions no more right or wrong than anyone else's on this forum or any other forum.

Have you even played Halo 4? Curious. If IGN rates Halo 4 98, you might say that's too high, and that might be fair, but what about a troll review like a 20 out of 100. That's metacritic rating credibility for you.

I havent played a console game since ... uncharted 3 and i didnt even beat it. gives you an idea of how little i care about any of this I'm just here to discuss. A bit off topic, but if you're not gaming on PC right now you are doing it wrong.

I know, I use to game on my pc 99% of the time before my 360 and PS3, and later Wii. Now it's so much harder to get back into it since I'm no longer into Counter-Strike. Or, more specifically, it was too damn addicting at times. Is Counter-Strike Go actually any good at all? Or is it at least much better than Source was? I'm inclined to trust your opinion on this, since I'm confident you understand CS.

lol thanks... ya its really good. Its a mix of source and 1.6 and it actually has good hitboxes. I just cant be bothered to sit down in front of my TV and play console games anymore.. just bores the living hell out of me. Id much rather be on my PC if im gonna game, multitasking is essential for me.

Uncharted 3, infamous 2, batman arkham city.. last 3 games i bought and i didnt get more than 2-3 hours into any of them before quitting. Its pretty sad but i just didnt enjoy them

I never did finish Arkham City, and I always regretted it because I loved the first game so damn much. I ended up giving the game to my nephew.

Interesting, I may have to actually give it a "Go." Been almost forever since I signed into steam. Going to have to contact Steam support to help me with my password tomorrow. I can't remember what the heck it might have been, and there's no way I remember the passphrase that my account was reset to the last time I got help from steam support.

Bioshock Infinite is going to win all the awards this year.

I think even with GTAV a ton of people will vote for Bioshock for GOTY, i feel pretty confident about that. All 3 bioshock games this gen are in my top 10 games, bioshock 2 is totally underrated.. great game. I think since the generation is winding down we should totally do a top 10 games of the gen vote. I do not volunteer for counting the votes.

GTA V, unless it's terrible, will most likely win GOTY. It's probably going to get my vote, as there hasn't really ever been a GTA title I didn't love. The Bioshock games, particularly the first one, weren't my kind of thing. The art style and general mood that I got from it was all positive, and clearly evident of what I suspect is an incredible game, but the style and subject matter are things I tend to avoid in games, as impressive as I may find it to be. And I heard the story was absolutely amazing, and story is usually something that can pull me in, but not enough to play a game that clashes so much with my own personal taste in games.

Infinite, on the other hand, with its general art direction and the fact you're no longer cooped up inside of some underwater prison looking place is more likely to get a purchase out of me, but I'll say it's got an uphill climb against GTA. That freedom, sense of humor and raw fun factor is not to be underestimated in GOTY considerations.
