i'll leave them in the link since they're kinda big.

looks pretty good, but not as impressive as it looked before...which is weird. i have a feeling seeing it in motion is going to add a whole lot tho.

The characters look good, the environments looks average but i guess it'll look better in motion just like you say. Also, as i've no doubt said many times before, i hope we don't have to put up with voodoo magic and cyber monsters this time around :P

thats confirmed as being gone. the only reason that was in fahrenheit was becasue the creator thought it was NEEDED to create an engaging video game based story....he has since learned you can be completely mature and realistic, and keep the player engaged.

theres a vid coming soon apparently....so we'll see how it looks then. but as you said, i think it's the envionments that are letting it down a bit. compared to the interior spaces shown so far, and in that specially made demo...it kinda comes across as a bit average. the heavy use of DOF isnt helping matters either. the backgrounds range from blurred, to incredibly freaking blurred. but that may come across better in motion...the black guy looks amazing tho imo. hopefully he animates well.

Meh, the downgrade is total. It's no big deal, but it surely doesn't LOOK as impressive as it once did in ANY regard.

Still, since it's Quantic Dream, I'm hoping for the game to actually be great.

I thought this game was going to be heavy on the "digital acting" type shit. That guys face was so fucking blank throughout that entire section. If they can get it right in 2004 (Half-Life 2) then why not now?

The more games i see from Mr. Cage the more i realize what a hack the guy is. He talks big but seems to do rather little when it comes to delivering. When Indigo Prophecy hit he compared games to porn and delivered writing sub-par to porn and gameplay that was unengaging at best and terrible at worst with the dialogue system being the one bright point, and here he comes again with another qte-fest with stiff looking characters and so much focal blur i get dizzy watching it. Maybe it's the "uncanny valley" effect but something about the characters just doesn't feel right, i especially dislike how their hands are so incredibly stiff (something that's been bothering me in games for a long time).

One of the most renown cinema school in Italy used Indigo Profecy as an example of good script. The only videogame they ever mentioned as far as i know. Not that this proves your opinion wrong, but alot of people, me included, consider it one of the best game ever created.

Nakano: The game is very cinematic, no question about it but the story is a damn joke. As long as it's a murder mystery it's all good but damn what a shitty end. I also want to dispute the whole best game ever thing because, much like with MGS, i have to ask what it was best at being; a movie or a game?

i think it looks pretty good in motion, much better then those screenshots suggested.

it's hard to find the scene itself interesting when it's so out of context...i mean, i dont have a clue what was going on, but visually at least i think it looks really good. it's no uncharted or killzone 2 technically, but realism wise it looks better then both imo. facial animations are a lot better then they where in that demo from last year too.

still my second most anticipated game this year tho...uncharted 2 obviously being the first.

Graphics don't worry me, the game does. If I get to pick something that I liked least of all in Fahrenheit (why do you guys use the bolted on, US release name? :O) was the QTE's. Straight up. The times where I felt the most engaged were the free roaming adventure-esque bits and during dialogues.

I just don't trust this game's fundamental approach. It's no doubt gonna be really cool to a lot of people, but for me Fahrenheit was first and foremost a pseudo return of the point and click adventure game, presented in a framework that modern gamers can appreciate. This is more like.. Space Ace.

this is what i mean about the lack of context to that scene. it's litterally a 3 minute section with very little in the way of back story. you dont have a clue what is going on and so it's a lot harder to appreciate.

reading the ign article makes it sound a LOT better tho...the fact you could have avoided the big black guy, moved round the back of the garage and inspected the car for clues and then left without even so much as looking as talking to the black dude....THAT is what is making the game stand out.

for me i almost feel the complete opposite of what you just said really. the visuals are a little iffy (environmentally at least) it's the gameplay itself that is holding my interest and keeps it high on my most wanted list. the fact it seems so insanely replayable just adds more fuel to my excitement fire.

I think good scripts and stories are good be it for a game or a movie. And i loved both in Indigo.

As for the game/movie thing, both MGS and Indigo let you change change the flow of media thrown at you, so i still consider them games. The fact they rely heavily on story and non interactive segments won't change this. You seem to imply that this is a bad thing in itself. Is it even that important to classify them into those categories?

We'll likely see in the future, games with even less interactive portions, and movies that will try to involve the audience in some "interactive" ways, and the separation line will maybe tend to disappear in some cases.

As long as it's fun and entertaining, i really don't care how to classify what i'm looking/playing.

Nakano: yeah well magical maya indians and cyber monsters just don't go well in my book but then i am picky. As for the game/movie thing i think there is a big difference. What is it that makes Fahrenheit good? Is it innovative gameplay or is it simply the fact that it does a good job of telling the story? In my opinion it's the later, the only thing the game does is tell a story really well (for a game). The control you have on he outcome of any given situation is minimal. The gameplay consists almost solely of lumbering about looking at things and QTE. It does a good job of telling a shitty story and it does terrible at being a game, in my opinion.

Besides both MGS and Fahrenheit are almost completely linear, don't even try to deny it. Both games rely so heavily on the story aspect that the gameplay suffers and i think that if that's the case perhaps you should have opted for something other than a game. Having a strong narrative is good but it's not 100% of a game.

At least i don't think an interactive movie and a game is the same thing.

Lumbering about looking at things is at the core of an entire generation of great adventure games.
