Winamp is good, i see no reason to use another player. And people going "meeeeh! It's bloatware!!", what the f***k do you spend so much ram and processing power on while listening to music that it's actually a detriment? I can work just fine in Maya and Zbrush while running winamp in the background with Photoshop idling on the other screen and it all works fine. 11 megs of ram is hardly what i'd call bloated. Whiny bunch of knowitalls.

More to the point Megido, people who think it's bloatware should just go to oldversion.com and pick up a copy that's not filled with all of the modern useless features. I sometimes leave much heavier applications open even when I'm playing games though, so I totally hear ya. But I do understand to some degree. Every application should in theory have the smallest footprint possible for the job it does. I don't like applications stealing CPU time and ram that they don't need, even when I have it to spare. I mean, conceptually speaking.. or something. But yeah.. even newer versions of winamp aren't really that loaded compared to the alternatives.

Whenever i install winamp i strip everything except for codecs away. Screw the library, visualisation and all that crap, all i want is the player, the playlist and the abillity to press J and type in a song name :)

I also understand that there is no point in having bloated software that does nothing but 11 cocking megabytes of ram will make NO difference on a modern computer. I bet most everyone on this forum has at least 2 gigs of ram. How many of them do you think actually use up all of that at any given point? Not many i'd wager, unless they listen to music while playing Crysis or something. I'd hardly call 11 megs bloated either...i mean what do people expect? The app needs to run and it needs to load the song into memory to play it, a few megabytes will be used and there's no way around it.

Yeargh, speakin' of Music, this weekend is going to be miserable :( My band is playing downtown for both nights of the Fire Fighters weekend at a bar that has the hottest girls around( and stripper poles!), but that's not the bad part. I've also got Drill for the Army Reserve( 12 hours a day) for 2 days, so I'll be getting about 4 hours of sleep total. That sucks without expending all the energy I do on stage. Add that to the total misery I'm already in from starting P90X yesterday, and I'm in for a Fuck Frozpot weekend...
