Tony Hawk's Project 8 Q&A

Thanks to the Xbox Community Network, we got another great interview to publish. This time it's with Brian Bright, the Project Lead and one of the great guys behind Tony Hawk's Project 8. Take a look inside for some online discussion and their thoughts about EA's S.K.A.T.E.

The First 10 minutes: Tony Hawk Project 8 demo

The demo of Tony Hawk Project 8 is finally available on the Marketplace since a few hours. As an (ex)fan of that series, I always try the new episode hoping to find what made Tony Hawk 2 and 3 such awesome games (imho of course), and so far I always found the series was getting worse and worse. And with this demo, surprise! The new trick system and the new graphics engine give me the impression that finally Neversoft got back what made their games shine. I think I've enjoyed this very limited demo more already than the last 3 episodes on the series combined. Can't wait for the final game, hopefully they will have fixed the small issues remaining, especially the framerate not always very smooth, and the buggy ragdolls.
Update: 720p version available.

Images from the Tony Hawk P8 demo

Activision has announced that a demo of Tony Hawk's Project 8 will be released on the Marketplace today, and here is a bunch of images from the demo. Some of them was previously released in June, so I guess the demo is quite an old build of the game. I also added a group of images released last week which we forgot to write about.

Tony Hawk Project 8 images

Activision just sent us these images, not all new, of Tony Hawk Project 8. One image in particular shows the camera feature in action. Could be fun.

30 Tony Hawk 8 images

Activision released this batch of 30 Tony Hawk Project 8 images. Finally this game should be something really new in what had become a rather boring series of games.

Tony Hawk Project 8 video

Activision released this very interesting video of Tony Hawk Project 8 showcasing the Trick system. This is a very nice addition to the already quite complete game system of the Tony Hawk series.

GC06: Tony Hawk's Project 8 Gameplay

Here is a quick gameplay clip of Tony Hawk's Project 8, shot in an Activision presentation. You can discover the focus mode, wich allows to do some cool tricks with your feet in slow motion, using the two analog sticks. We would have loved to show you more, but we were quicly asked to shut off the camera (note the game was available on the showfloor, talk about nonsense).

GC06: Tony Hawk's Project 8 images

Activision released these five images of Tony Hawk's Project 8, looking quite impressive. The game is playable at the GC and people seem to like what they saw.

Game Convention: Tony Hawk Project 8 gameplay

Tony Hawk Project 8 is playable at the Game Convention so we of course HAD to make a video, even if the version presented still requires a lot of polishing and I was playing even worse than usual. Yes, it's possible. We'll try to make a better video today if we have time.

What's up?
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX 6 to 8 split on Eurogamer, which isn't quite as large but still pretty significant. (5 minutes ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Yeah sure, but from what console reviews are saying it's perfectly adequate. I mean I'm sure PC is the way to go, but I sincerely doubt we're seeing a 5 to 9 split score wise or anything. (8 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX not that the Xbox version is "that bad" by most accounts either.. there are plenty of people here playing it who adore it.. but the PC game is recieving higher marks across the board (10 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @SimonM7: I doubt that's true too, if other reviews I've read are any indication. The game was designed around an interface that's not represented on the Xbox.. (11 minutes ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 I doubt PC and 360 scores would differ much in EDGE, they simply don't fancy it. DA on the 360 is fine as long as you like the underlying game. (20 minutes ago)
  • callmekymbo
callmekymbo is DA on the 360 really that bad? I can't run it on my pc so the eggbox is my only viable alternative (55 minutes ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Wow, deja vu. (1 Hour ago)
