Blacksite on the operating table

Midway sends us additional screenshots of its first person shooter Blacksite: Area 51 already available in the United States for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Europe will receive this game in a little bit more than a week (Nov. 30). The Half-Life resemblance is hard to miss, but it manages to keep an inch of originality which helps dissociate it from Valve's classic.

Images of Blacksite: Area 51

Midway releases four new images of Blacksite: Area 51. It's not groundbreaking graphics-wise, but the various interviews of Harvey Smith talking about the political content of the game - and Pipomantis' hysterical monologues, have rasen our interest for the game.

Images of Blacksite

Midway releases six new images of Blacksite: Area 51, the not-really-a-sequel-of the sympathetic Area 51. Yeah, the screens are in a strange ratio, and yeah, it doesn't look mind-blowing, but with a little bit of luck, it could end up as a nice B-series FPS.

E3: Blacksite gameplay

Here comes a gameplay video of the Area 51's new generation sequel. It looks a lot better than last month's playable demo, even if the action didn't seem that frenetic in the portion of level we tried. Don't miss Pipomantis' impressions on his editor's blog !

E3 starts early for Midway

Midway kickstarts E3 and sends us the E3 trailer of Blacksite: Area 51, along with 2 new images. I guess it's a good way not to be lost in the middle of hundreds of updates next week.

Images of Blacksite: Area 51

Midway releases 8 images of Blacksite. Some are nice, some are a bit messy. We'll wait a new playable demo (with a real level and some multiplayer) before expressing any opinion.

Video of Blacksite: Area 51 demo

Midway finally releases its internal Blacksite: Area 51 demo, which the press has been able to try for almost a year from now (and it shows in the framerate, that recalls the first games that used the UE3 before the release of Gears of War). The level is extremely short and you won't kill anything but a few aliens, but it's still very cinematic and teaches the basics of the gameplay. To be brief, it's more of a playable teaser than a demo.

Blacksite: Area 51 images

Midway also released these seven images of Blacksite: Area 51, to be released this autumn on the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The game support online co-op, aswell as the normal online modes like Deathmatch and Capture the flag.
Update: First trailer added.

What's up?
  • Tinks
Tinks Actually reviews died when we all became old enough to realize everything is subjective. (10 minutes ago)
  • dingleberry
dingleberry RPG's are always going to be contentious when it comes to reviews. They aren't everyone's cup of tea. As for reviewers, credibility died a long, long time ago as soon as 10/10 scores bacame a norm. (31 minutes ago)
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer BTW I have 3 guest passes for a PC zero gravity shooter called Shattered Horizon..if anyone here has Windows 7 or Vista (need DX10+) and wants to check the game out, post here (39 minutes ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 EDGE is well above ripping games a new one though. They don't exactly need to have emo fits to put them on the map. (51 minutes ago)
  • Megido
Megido I agree that i'd rather see honest reviews, but i don't know if 5/10 for dragon age is honest or "look at us ripping this game a new one!". (59 minutes ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 A load of crap would be a reviews outlet getting in line and copy/pasting the average on metacritic just to ease your mind, Doom. I hope to god people continue "sucking" and being honest. (1 Hour ago)
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer @Megido: didn't know about the metacritic score...that review pissed me off though..5/10 what a load of crap. (1 Hour ago)
