Unreal Engine 3.0

Sony certainly managed to wow their audience yesterday with their tech demos, and of the most impressive was when Tim Sweeney showed the realtime Unreal Engine 3 demo. Since this engine will also be used in lots of Xbox 360 games (Gears of Wars for example) this is quite interesting to watch even if you do not plan to buy PS3.

After the annoucement last week at GDC, it was time we got a bit more images of the Unreal Engine 3. These 12 screens are certainly a very good reason to approve Microsoft in choosing this engine for some of his next generation titles. They also show another engine called SpeedTree, allowing the developers to generate quite realistic looking and unique trees. Imagine playing this on your tv in a few months :)

Midway announced today that they had licensed the Unreal Engine 3 technology and tools for all their future developments, and released this new images of the character called Malcolm. Very impressive, the next generation can't come soon enough !
