E3: Battlestations Midway trailer

E3: Battlestations Midway trailer

Eidos released via the Marketplace this quite well done trailer of Battlestations: Midway. The game's concept is interesting, and it doesn't look bad.

The water looks good but then they ruin it by having overlaid textures of ripples and foam from the boats cutting through the water.

I would prefer to see some cool displacement mapping going on in these games.

As long as we see the planes only in the air it looks quite good, but other than that i am not impressed

While it could be fun, the shading engine doesn't really have a lot going on - the lighting's flat and overly bright and the textures are fairly basic. It looks a lot like a bunch of models maneuvering around rather than actual craft. There's just not much atmosphere.

Probably the best ocean water I've seen!

these are not the final graphics !
I saw it in action, and it's looking really nice, the water is much better than this, the buildings have new textures, great bump maps, and it has some really nice post effects!
But the main thing is, that the game itself is very addictive! I'm eagerly waiting for the final version :) Coming in October.....

What's up?

SimonM7 EA are according to rumours putting DSE on XBLA/PSN, and I suspect Boom Blox could follow suit. It would make sense to make both wand compatible. (0 minute ago)

SimonM7 Wait, are we trying to make it sound unlikely here? Because I can make it sound unlikely too if you want. It's just that it makes a lot of sense, and rumours and Sony's comments sorta line up. (2 minutes ago)

bleachedsmiles do psn games even sell well? they're certainly not in the numbers of xbla games i know that much. Is there a size limit on psn games? (4 minutes ago)

bleachedsmiles i dont see how it would be viable for a developer at all.. given how different the wii and ps3 are in structure..it would need 2 seperate teams, or twice the resources to bring a psn game? (6 minutes ago)

SimonM7 Mostly just that Dead Space Extraction is heavily rumoured for PSN/XBLA, and it makes sense financially/licensing wise. Developing something for digital/Wii places them within a similar budget frame. (9 minutes ago)

bleachedsmiles what makes you think wii cross overs would be psn bound and not ps3 full releases? (14 minutes ago)

SimonM7 @Megido: No they're not, actually, but they're not the games people talk about. They're very much the Okami of the Wii library. Although I don't actually have Okami for Wii, haha. :D (24 minutes ago)
