Need for Speed High Stakes will remain the best NFS. It had the best music, most memorable tracks, and the entire experience of make NFS1, 2 and 3 really came together with High Stakes.
RIP NFS.
At the Games Convention I played the XBox 360-Version of Pro Street an it already looked increadible. The Gameplay is a bit different compared to the other NFS-Games, because it is more like a simulation an not so acarde like the titles before. It's harder to keep the car in line and you can nearly feel the G-Power catching you while you make a turn. Since now your car is getting damage also turns the game into a Simulation. There is a "Low Damage", Medium Damage" and "High Damage"-Level. Every single one effect your Car and it's getting harder to steer, to accelerate or maybe you can't catch your highspeed anymore, cause your engine is damaged to much. If you are driving on roundcourses (?? SRY don't know how you say it in english) the parts which fell of the cars stay on the street an you'll have to evade them if you don't want to lose your speed.
The graphics are fantastic, the Balancing is great (yoer opponents are not as slow as in carbon) and the feeling you get while driving is unbelievable. Hope the Controlls on PS3 are a bit better than on 360, but I WILL BUY IT! ;)
Can't wait 4 it...
WOW, really impressiv how good this NFS looks like. Like I said already more than once, this is since a long time a NFS I'm really interested in. Seems EA has learned something ^^ Keep it on!!!!
Although the sense of speed was very good in the demo
Need For Speed is dead to me. First one I played was Hot Pursuit on PSX back in 1998 and I totally loved it. NFS was good when it was about driving exotic cars on imaginative tracks with cool techo, electronic music from Rom di Prisko or Saki Kaskas. They have totally driven the NFS name into the ground in the past few years with focusing on the retarded street racing scene and signing up with awful music bands. The track quality has also suffered because of this.

This game however is shaping up to be great from the looks of it as it looks like it's trying to get back to it's roots. I agree that this street racing scene thing is so lame and tearing this game away from what used to make it fun.
Pro Street would be better w/out drag and drifting.
I played the game at leipzig it doesnt look half as good as those bullshots

For sure it wont look as good as it does here, but it will look much better than at Leipzig. ;)
Hm... Mike? You played it at Leipzig? Interesting. What do you say if I would explain you this: YOU played the 360-Version of the Game at Leipzig. The Screenshots HERE are take from the PS3-Version. So, tell me something about the Graphics again.

if your saying the ps3 version will look better than the 360 then your wrong. Since EA have said many times they make the games for the 360 then port it to the ps3. Thier aim is to port it to ps3 and try and maintain what makes the 360 version. As a result the ps3 games are never better. Just look at madden.
At some point there just won't be any differences that are anything more than superficial anyway. I'm not even sure that was WhiteWolf's real point to be fair either, rather more of a discussion of what the final game will look like compared to "supposed" bullshots.
Given the video I don't think the graphics in the screens are in anyway unfeasible.
That's only how it works at present and that's mainly due to how long they've had access to the 360 compared to the PS3. Also EA Criterion are leading development of Burnout Paradise on PS3 and "porting" to 360.

While I havn't found confirmation of Criterion making it on ps3 primarly. It is feasible as really the Criterion team are a seperate company owned by EA. With that said a port from PS3 to 360 is not the same as 360 to PS3. The same applied with the ps2 to Xbox.
The ps2 had the more complex code, but when ported to the stronger development kits using directx, certain enhancements could be made using pre defined functions. And as such the ports generally ran the same and in some cases ran a little better.
With ps3 to 360 the complexity of the SPEs will make porting any SPE code very difficult. But since the general core of the Cell is the same as the 360 this code will be fine. So gamecode, AI, etc. Now here is the difference, the 360 now has 2 idle cores. The SPEs will have been used for physics, lighting, shadows etc. This code can now be ported to two cores using the xna development library. It's a little easier than porting generic code into 6 SPE's which can only handle floating points.
What I'm trying to say is this, at the moment 360 to ps3 is hard, with better development kits and devs understanding the ps3 more, ports will start to get better. But since the 360 uses XNA and more people prefer C# most multi platform games will be developed on 360 first. But the ones that aren't while probably wont be any better, wont suffer such a bad transformation.

MCL.A. > nfs anyday.
I agree with the graphics.
