It's been quite a long time since our last first 10 minutes, and since a story heavy game like Heavenly Sword is most appropriate for these videos I bought the game on saturday. 2 more videos will follow during the week, along with my impressions.
Update: Second part is online, with a lot of not so precise Sixaxis gameplay.
Update3: Third and last part available.

Commented on 2007-09-24 21:28:47I mean, it was these kind of action/adventure games that made me fall in love with consoles.
I know microsoft always mentioned they don't want to be PC gaming with the xbox, but i think right now, Xbox360 is like a PC gamer's console. It's flooded with FPS and online games.. Online gaming has become such a focus, developers only focus on those games. Where are the good old times when you used to play a game and brag about it with your friends. Or feel like you are in an epic tale.
Online gaming is good, but lag issues, host advantages, glitchers, cheaters completely take away the experience that is intended. I mean, i am a gears of war nut.. Maybe you guys have played with me, i do love it online..but there is always lag issues, host advantage glitches and quitters tha ruin the experience
I was surprised reviewers gave heavenly sword a bad review cause it didn't have an online mode or multiplayer.. But this game isn't made for multiplayer or online gaming. It's a single player experience
ps2 was flooded with them and it seems ps3 already is giving us such games. Last i heard of a platforming which was good on the xbox360 was kameo. and it's been a year
I hope gamers still do appreciate games like these..that way we won't loose such gems to the trend that is FPS games and racers for the next gen.
Sometimes i wonder, is it just japanese developers or europeans or a limited american developers who are interested in action/adventures, 3rd person shooters, rpgs and platformers? A hell of alot of american developers focus on FPS games now..i mean, maybe they think fps only sell, but it's because only FPS games are available!
Commented on 2007-09-24 21:29:48I watched the video. Production values are truely incredible.

For some reason I think Americans are the only ones who are totally into Halo franchise much more than the Japanese and Europeans.
Not that other people in the world don't like it, but I think Americans like it waaay to much. Guess its good...for them.
The only FPS game I am waiting my mind off is Killzone 3 (yes Killzone 3. Killzone 2 is "Killzone Liberation").
I watched the video. Production values are truely incredible.

Commented on 2007-09-24 23:58:11The game is very epic and from the moment you start to its finish, you just don't get bored. I believe the only reason why it is short is due to no back tracking or an open ended style where you should go and explore.
It's linear and it suits the game...there is no time to go to another village and walk around asking people how their day went. The game runs in a fast pace.. just 4 or 5 days.. The game succeeds in making you understand and feel for the characters
The music is another aspect of the game i really enjoyed. I swear the moment the last cutscene played and the credits starting rolling..i didn't feel like skipping it, i wanted to just sit there and listen. This feeling went through me. * this game was wow* Like how you watch an amazing movie in the theatre, the credits roll and you don't want to go, just take what just happened all in for a moment..
Music is so powerful, halo does this too..Halo has an exceptional soundtrack and just the music alone can make people feel something. MGS does it too. I would say heavenly sword's soundtrack is along those games..
Apart from being short, i had no problems. It delivered on the epic feel, graphics, cutscenes, story, music and gameplay. Just makes you really appreciate and miss these kind of games.
Apparently the developers have a trilogy in mind if this becomes successful.. here's hoping!
oh did anyone else feel like their interest for GOD OF WAR 3 increase after playing this game?
Commented on 2007-09-25 00:01:19 In reply to Splicer261I didn't even think of God of War one bit...odd I know.
I guess its a good thing.
Commented on 2007-09-25 08:16:48The game plays very easy, cool controls and combat system. There's a lot of alternation with those shooting and fighting passages. The parts playing with Kai where very funny, too. Syncro is top, the sound is great, and of course, the grafx are very good!
The only thing making me a bit sad are those tearings and slow downs. They really distroy the athmosphere and make the game look a bit unstable.
But apart from that, the game is great!! Very great.
I read here the game takes about 8 hours for veterans. Man, I cannot understand why it is so much ripped apart from the critics because of that fact! Other games had better reviews and where about the same lenghts. And I have to say, I'm gonna play HS again! To unlock every little bonus...
Commented on 2007-09-25 08:59:14I did finish it in about 8 hours and it was awesome. I got some framerate issues as well, even when there wasent any large scale levels.
For example the first level were Nariko has to escape and its in a snow environment...I got tearing there like 2 times, but not at the same time i played.
I am playing it now and then just to get complete al the missing points and those tokens.

Commented on 2007-09-25 11:18:20Not sure how this thread turned into a 360 vs PS3, but just for clarification the 360 has the most diverse library of games out of ANY of the Next-Gen consoles so far.

Hey whats your tag...gonna add you.
And yeah MGS4 and Killzone 2...especially Killzone 2 is the main game for me on Ps3 :D
About variety, well 360 needs more hack and slash type of games, it only got Ninja Gaiden and now by luck, DMC4.
But we all know Mass Effect is the weapon for 360 :P, hence the title too :D

More hack n slash, i disagree, but then again i'm not a huge hack n slash fan, and the 360 has just as many hack n slash games as the ps3 if not more dose it not?
And yeah Mass Effect is my precious :)
Commented on 2007-09-25 15:32:39While PS3 has HS, God of War and who knows what more in the future.
Anyway, both consoles have variety of genres anyway.

Commented on 2007-09-25 15:57:55ninja gaiden 2 + who know what more in the future.
That way, the only thing differs in what you said about diversity amongst the two consoles is one game.... yes, one single game.
Besides we all know that Ninja Gaiden 2 is gonna eat both HS and God of war combined :)
Let's all have drink for playing exlusives on our consoles.

Commented on 2007-09-25 16:18:29Yeah but for NOW 360 still only has NG2 as exclusive, while PS3 has God of War 3 and HS.
But yeah who knows, maybe 360 will (hopefully) more of these type of games.
Ninja Gaiden 2 wont "eat" HS and God of War...different type of games...and ALL 3 of them are bad ass in their own style.
I for one can wait for NG2 considering I have played my ass off with NG Black and NG Sigma.
I just completed HS so sequal is far off.
However with God of War 3...I want it badly. The second one (only one I bought) was bad ass, so with next-gen and all I can't wait to see how it will be.
GOW2 looked very great for an PS2 game, so the devs will go crazy with the third installment on PS3. :D

Atleast we know how DMC4 and Ng2 is gonna be, from previous experiences from the last titles.
DMC4 and NG2 gonna be VERY enjoyable for sure.Darksiders...nobody knows yet.
