Ubisoft announces Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, to be released on march 2008. Press release and first screen in the news.
Paris, FRANCE — November 20, 2007 — Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced that it is developing Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Vegas 2 for next-generation consoles and PC. Developed at Ubisoft Montreal by the same team that created the award-winning Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas, the highly anticipated sequel is scheduled for a March 2008 release. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is the sixth iteration in the wildly successful Rainbow Six franchise which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2008 with more than 16 million units sold worldwide to date.
“Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas took the gaming world by storm in 2006 thanks to its technological advances and gameplay innovations,” said Yves Guillemot, president and chief executive officer at Ubisoft. “We are convinced that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will remain a pioneer in the highly competitive first person shooter genre, bringing more of what Rainbow Six fans love to the table.”
The highly anticipated sequel to the winner of numerous awards, including IGN’s 2006 Best First Person Shooter and Best Online Game, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will push the franchise to new heights by adding new gameplay features and even more stunning visuals. Players will encounter an intense solo campaign that uses new tactical possibilities in various locations around Sin City. As expected with one of the pioneer franchises for online multiplayer Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will also break new ground in both co-op and adversarial modes, while providing unprecedented interaction between the solo and multiplayer modes.
I havent finished the original so no need for this. Bought it for the co-op but overall it left a rushed and money-grabbing taste to my mouth just like the original GRAW.
I think Vegas' strong point was being released in a time of hiatus and before the great games of this fall, and the nice bot-killing multiplayer. They made poor use of UE3 as well since the MP looks like ass compared to Gears.
Posted by Sath Besides, why vegas again, that was BORING to me.
Casino after casino, warehouse to warehouse which leads back to casino...seriously.
Amen to that.Seriously ..... I didnt find it funny to fight in casinos and warehouses all the time. Its gettin' quite a claustrophobic after a while. I'd love to get GRAW3 instead.
this is more of an expansion until the real sequel comes out... its kinda like what GRAW 2 is... if they can get the multiplayer to look as good as single that will be amazing
Posted by ManThatYouFear So the terrorists have retaken vegas ? i never played the first
Man american defence troops suck ass :D
and only play half the story ?
ahhh didnt know it was a second part to a story!
i just thought they were like 'ooo that sold well, lets make another'
its cheap atm though, play have it for 17.99 i think
so i might grab it,next time theres no new games for a while ive got assassins creed and vegas to play
i like how everyone is bashing this wen it just gets announced. if you played the first one u would know how fun the game is. not many games are placed in casinos either and can pull it off, but this game sure was fun set in a setting like vegas. its the perfect setting for a game like this. im really looking forward to this and cant wait to finish the story, i really hated the ending to the first one.
and yeah people just wait till a video is released of the game before u start criticizing because all we know about the gameplay visually is a single screenshot, and we have no idea what they did with it. i bet if this was gears of war 2, everyone would already call it the best game ever made.
Well I liked Vegas very much, Coop was a lot of fun and gameplay very good and intuitive. But it was very short as well and I didn't like MP at all. So if the sequel is more of the same (or less if you played GRAW 1/2), I won't buy it.
Why are good shooters always so short? I'd love to see a strong narrative work behind a shooter for a change... :/
They should have made Rainbow Six: Tokyo instead :( I first tought that thing on the wall looked like a japanese symbol, then i realized its called Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, so i guess not :(
Posted by jioann00 cool, i never played the first one, but my mate said its awesome
might aswell just wait for this one now
That depends if you are into campaign mode or not.
If you could care less about the campaign mode, then by all means, wait for the sequel. The multiplay modes alone are worthy the purchase. However, if you do care about the storyline of the game at all, then you want to get R6V first and play it through. It ended on a cliffhanger and R6V2 is very likely to pick up where R6V left off.
As for multi-player, Ubisoft is really going to have to step up it's game. The multi-play in R6V is bar none some of the best out there. However, Infinity Ward has raised the multiplay bar tremendously with CoD4. All other multiplay games out there now have a new high watermark to meet or beat, anything less quite frankly bores me to death to even contemplate.

@GriftGFX: I'm just worried that if I get the game tomorrow and go online that I'll get banned or something, but I don't think even MS would do that... (1 minute ago)

The game is out then, and there aren't any reviews? What the hell?! (19 minutes ago)

Apparently Activision even gave Gamestop the go-ahead in some areas to sell it early, because so many mom & pop joints broke the street date. (39 minutes ago)

@GriftGFX: You're kidding me?! I'm defintely checking the stores tomorrow then. Might get the PC version just to tick you off! ;) j/k (44 minutes ago)

@Jato: Lots of stores are selling it early.. PC version too, yet they can't play because it's locked on Steam.. not that anyone should be buying the PC version anymore! :P (51 minutes ago)

@Viginti_Tres: Already? That's like 4 days before the official release... (52 minutes ago)

As modern FPS...COD4 is the only one I am interested in, other than that...no thx.
Give them decent development times and coherent endings. I mean, seriously!

More of a good thing ain't bad but they should at least admit this is merely an expansion pack.
