The first 10 minutes: Lost Odyssey

The first 10 minutes: Lost Odyssey

As expected DjMizuhara managed to buy Lost Odyssey today, much less expected was that his 7th (yes, you read that right) Xbox 360 would have so much trouble reading the game's DVD, leading to slowdowns during the cutscenes and even crashes... He still managed to capture some videos, starting with this one where you'll certainly recognize the demo area, but with still quite a few tweaks since last year!
Update: Added the second part, with finally some new stuff!
Update2: And here comes the third part, named "City"...
Update 3: 4th part is up, with the definitive proof that DjMizuhara is indeed British!
Update 4: 5th part is online, and a last one will follow later today.

The first 10 minutes: Part 1
The first 10 minutes: Part 2
The First 10 Minutes: Part 3
The first 10 minutes: Part 4
The first 10 minutes: Part 5

I'd love to hear what you think of the game (provided it works ;)), It looked really dull to me before.

Just the demo all over again, hop to see some content a bit deeper in when possible ^^.

Framerate looked really bad in places, and I'm not ovninced that was due to the drive problems. Could be I guess. This makes the combat look very dull, and I hate the character designs in the CG, it's the false philosophy that more is better. The action was cool though.

Oh, and the voice acting was TERRIBLE: "What, what is that?" "I've never seen that before" in a really deep and unevocative voice. eurgh.

Beautiful graphics though, and I guess the main character looks good design wise. I think the rest of what I've seen before shows better design than that CG video. Hope the VA is better too.

Personally I gave up on the 360 after my 5th one, but might just buy another one when this game drops. We'll see if it's really all that, or another cheap FF knockoff!

Synce: seeing as how it's the creator of FF that's made this i'd guess it'd be about as FF as it possibly could. Unless the name makes the game. Most j-prgs are just pseudo philosophy bullshit jam-packed with as much reference to the bible as is possible, so this will probably be as cheap as most games in the genre in that respect, but hey...if you like it this game is bound to be great.

Fix: switch to Japanese voices. Those're wonderful.

Is there any difference with the demo?

The Graphic is better

Bad framerate? What video are you watching? I think this looks awesome. I'm sure the production can't stay at this high level through the entire game, and I am sick of Lord of the Rings like battles (and dark colors), but I still thought it was cool. Give me a good story, and wipe some of that Enchanted Arms from my memory (although I actually hated that game less towards the end)

I get Mass Effect for Xmas, and after I finish, this should be waiting on the shelves for me. I've skipped Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata, but these two look to fill the RPG void.

Now if they could just get Square to make a Chrono Trigger game for the 360...

You skipped Blue Dragon, yet want a CT remake ?, Blue Dragon is the closest thing we will ever see to CT sadly.

"Update: Added the second part, with finally some new stuff!"

Verry little new stuff here to, second part is more or less the demo yet over again, except they added a tiny bit more route to get to the town but nothing really to see.

I hope we get to see somethign REAL new soon.

i hope there is a difficulty setting. this looks to be 'blue dragon' easy. i understand that it's the very beginning of the game but it looks like you couldn't die if you wanted to. there's nothing like non-challenging combat to kill the feeling of immersion

again, it's the beginning of the game. i really should reserve all judgment until i see some battles after 10-15 hours in when most jrpg's start to pick up. i'm just saying that enemies hitting for < 2% of your total hp doesn't bode well

it looks much better than the demo and it doesn't look like there are any technical issues. great stuff!

You are supposed to be overpowered in the beginning of the game.

Just because you are whining, it will have to wait until tomorrow.
(Or maybe I can't connect to DjMizuhara's PC and upload the 3rd video, but the result is the same)

Looking forward to this one.
Blue Dragon was great if you liked 'old skool' JRPG's. This looks to have a more serious tone to it. Not sure if I like the whole FFXII vibe it's got going on though...

What's up?
  • Baleur
Baleur Why are you discussing reviews anyway? When have reviews ever mattered? They are just individual people writing about their individual opinions. Might as well read reviews on music too then, lol XD (1 Hour ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX pfft text! we only care for numbers (2 Hours ago)
  • blmbox
blmbox Yeah, but judging by the content of both reviews, Eurogamer didn't particularly care much for the game anyway. They probably only gave it an 8 to avoid controversy - the review sounded more like a 6. (6 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX 6 to 8 split on Eurogamer, which isn't quite as large but still pretty significant. (8 Hours ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Yeah sure, but from what console reviews are saying it's perfectly adequate. I mean I'm sure PC is the way to go, but I sincerely doubt we're seeing a 5 to 9 split score wise or anything. (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX not that the Xbox version is "that bad" by most accounts either.. there are plenty of people here playing it who adore it.. but the PC game is recieving higher marks across the board (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @SimonM7: I doubt that's true too, if other reviews I've read are any indication. The game was designed around an interface that's not represented on the Xbox.. (8 Hours ago)
