Sony has put online the official Homepage of Playstation Home on their Japanese site, and we of course extract all the images we could find there for you convenience. Looks like it's shaping up nicely.
yeah but those were really not that great(poor performance, terrible visuals, clunky interfaces), and were not on consoles, which is the whole point of Home. Its made to show microsoft they don't have everything. Sure it wasn't totally original, but in the gaming industry, the word "original" can no longer really be taken seriously.
Game is looking very good, I need a PS3 oh so very bad! Too bad I have to replace my 360 first though >.< still I can prolly try it out at my buddies place. Maybe Microsoft will make something like this to compete, and make it available to silver users too! haha FAT CHANCE, not to mention everything would cost MSP >.<
You have to admit it does look suspiciously like Second Life though? Plus Sega had Planet Ring and the Phantasy Star Online lobby on SEGANET on the Dreamcast almost 10 years ago. Plus they had the NFL Crib when they had the NFL2K games and that was pretty similar to the "homes" in HOME only in 1st person not 3rd. Can someone remind me again why the Dreamcast "failed"??? (Rhetorical question Farley! Unfortunately Sega's entire marketing team seemed to be staffed by YTS rejects plus Sony's BS, buying exclusives and EA being total jerks ("We will kill the Dreamcast by not supporting it!" true statement by EA, seriously!) didn't help. :( )
Looks interesting but I'm not too sure how often I'd use it. Between spending my time in Home and spending it on MGS4, I'd take MGS4.
But you just can't deny that its a viable option... totally free, this much gorgeous, being online, playable and friends-making-wise... can you? Isn't it something exponentially above xbl like services...I mean you can't deny its sci-fi feel and the power of the system running behind it promoting online shopping and TRUE GAME RELATED COMUNITY !
well, the potential is there, Farooq - but I sincerly think it will fail miserably. I'm convinced that consolegamers are a different breed than pc gamers. Especially early buyers of the ps3 are extremly hardcore gamers who wouldn't touch this with a stick. It's way to casual. Now if it was on PC I bet it would be able to give sims online a run for its money, but alas it's not.
I don't give it many chances. Even if it's free.

Console gamers are infinitely more casual than PC gamers, so your logic is flawed. Casual gamers would lap this up in a heartbeat. I am not a casual gamer myself, but a great majority of console gamers are.
Sony always seems full of nice idea's but they're very slow implementing them, if at all.. I think by the time we'll see this online Home stuff fully operational etc the PS4 will probably be announced or even available already..

i'm sorry, but it is indeed you who is wrong. Just looking at sales numbers for Crysis and UT3 on PC tells me that the hardcore gamers are a very small percentage.
And then you can't even count on a 100 hands those internet sites that offer small casual games. Nothing like that on the concoles.
Looking at WorldofWarcraft also adds to my thinking. WOW was launched to be the casusual gamers mmorpg. And we all know how succesfull that is.
So.. Think again.

Full tan and free cocktails, okay, but enough is enough. No need to get sick of it. That's why I took the time to make a little Gamersyde Diaries on The Bourne Conspiracy while at the Sierra Spring Break '08.

Crysis has sold over a million world wide, it's only in the US it sold badly.
And WoW is a terrible example, it's casual when you start but there's a lot of very hardcore WoW players out there.
