Wii

Small bow in images today for Okami in its Nintendo Wii incarnation. I do not know what's up, but the overall quality seems underwhelming when compared to its Playstation 2 counterpart. Writing about this game makes me sad, because I know that even if many copies sell, it will not bring back Clover Studios. Go, let us cry on its grave.
Update: Added 2 gameplay videos.

According to IGN, it's overall better quality - especially the brush controls and you can now skip the cinematics, but you don't have to buy it if you already have the PS2 version. The "paper" filter disappeared and colours are more vibrant, that's the only difference - with "14/9" and 480p. I wonder if it will sell well...

Yeah, it may not be apparent in screens, but this is prettier in every way. It's rendered at a higher resolution with better anti aliasing, a real 16:9 mode instead of the silly borders on the PS2 version, and this lets you control the Celestrial Brush with the Wiimote of course. It's gonna be ace.

Done by the team responsible for PSP God of War and Daxter - Ready at Dawn.

If this does well on the wii (which I hope it does - its a game no one should miss especially if they like zelda style games) - what are the chances of an okami 2? Last I heard, clover studios sort of vanished off the face of the earth? who would have rights to the title?

Capcom still do, and PS2/Wii are totally the place for super niché titles.

It wouldn't be Clover per se, unless they outsource it to the new studio founded by ex Clover guys; Seed (?), but the whole never say never thing applies here.

Samba, Space Channel, NiGHTS, Manhunt 2, Fatal Frame 4, Obscure 2, there are many instances where the ease and low cost of development warrant sequels with minimum return expected.

So yeah, fingers crossed. Unless of course Okami very much "does it" for you already and a sequel would be pointless. That's how I feel about a lot of these games that have really moved me. :)

I think I can agree. I never got around to beating the PS2 version, but I'm more than 30 hours in and know I'm not all that far from the end (maybe another 10 hours or so). It's a very long game with an absolute TON of substance, and I'd love to play it on the Wii with the brush.
