Page 1 2 3 >>i'm gonna participate in this www.fmx.de in two weeks, mostly 3D and specialFX but these guys from natural motion are gonna be there, talking about it and GTAIV. rather curious
That tech demo looks awesome anyways. You can tell this very easy in GTAIV when you are drunk.
CoD does it quite good, not with this procedural but with mocap, but i'd rather have mocap than stupid rag doll
I'm pretty sure pedestrians in GTA IV won't act like in that demo.
1st example, in one very short clip there was the much talked about thing where a pedestrian gets its hand stuck in a cardoor while the car is speeding away.. It looked spectacular..
2nd example, a pedestrian dealt a final uppercut to the gut of the player, killing him.. As the player fell down backwards, the murderous pedestrian GOT HIS LEFT LEG STUCK BETWEEN THE PLAYER CHARACTERS LEGS ON THE GROUND, MAKING THE PEDESTRIAN FALL TO THE SIDE WHILE REACHING HIS HANDS FOR THE PAVEMENT TO ABSORB THE FALL!
When i saw that last thing, i almost cried tears of joy. Finally something truly next-gen that isnt just about textures or shaders. I'm NOT making this up, the 2nd example is in a vid somewhere on gametrailers unless its been taken down, right at the end of the clip. Cant remember the name nor find it anymore..
Anyway I had demo/trial version of this program and it had some fun scenes. Great technology!

The funniest thing I saw was a fatty in a car. Nico forced him out and he was running behind his car with the wheight of like a 1/4 of a tonn. It was hillarious watching him. The engine is truely amazing and I'd rather have the gaming industry focus on things like that rather than realistic graphics.

Got to love W.A.S.P :)...

Obviously if this was applied to a football or any other game you can see how it could change the gameplay as well as being a BIG step forwards in graphics.
I don't think this is the ONLY worthwhile innovation going on right now, but it's a huge one. Soon games without this tech or similar techs are going to look REALLY BAD.

I actually don't, at least not with the football example. A tackle's a tackle, it's just now the tackles look different instead of using pre-canned animations.
Anyways, this also bridges the gap between graphics and gameplay, by bringing a true connection. If a game was poorly programmed today you might see a tackle in a football game that was really hard yet your character might keep running.
Have you played any recent Madden's? The system is far from perfect in those. With this system characters could grab for other players, holding them to drag them down, tackles could be far more realistic, a hard hit would actually WORK like a hard hit. All of this can be done pre-canned in Madden...
What do you mean a hard hit would work like a hard hit?
I haven't played any of the Madden games hence why I'm wondering how it'll actually affect gameplay.
It can all be done already as per your last sentence, right? So what would change besides it looking better?

I'm not wasting any more time.
Watch the video above until you understand,
I was merely asking how it would affect gameplay, especially in relation to a football game, and nothing you mentioned couldn't be done without euphoria despite it all looking better and more varied with it.
I'm thrilled that there's software like this. Two of the biggest things that will make games look better will be animation and lighting, and this looks to take care of one of them
They're(NaturalMotion) actually making a Football game, Backbreaker, using this engine, and they are in talks with EA in possibly licensing the engine for future Madden games
