As for being "generic" I'm struggling to recall a game like this at all. Sure it has plenty of RPG mainstays (the spiderbot is essentially a minion for example) but I can't think of a game where it has been put together this way.
after playing mgs4 the animations look rubish, I loved eternal darkness but I agree with KORNdog it will be good but most wonj't bother with it.

At least try and compare games in the same genre.
also @ ronsauce
it sounds like you were unimpressed when you played through it. what about act 4 when your worm crawling past two gekko the animation is a treat, or rex vs ray, on drebins truck, the glorious chase sequance in act 3, all the boss fights, the first person gun animation. the airborne units, the real time cut scenes ( that use ingame textures ), the way snakes face reacts to different situations. and there's many more throughout the game,
don't get me wrong though i'm not having a pop because it's on 360, I have a lot of time for silicon knights, they made two of my favourite games on the cube, eternal darkness and twin snakes, but they got let go by nintendo for a reason, and it was too human.
When your animations suck compared to MGS4, you know you're in trouble :P
If you mean the pre-animated cut-scenes of (random-mgs-game) i can agree with you, there the animations are alive and smooth, but in gameplay the suck... at least with western-standards.
so because they have different game styles that means animation can't be compared?
so another question for you good sir, not about game styles, does too human have better animation than MGS4? yes or no : )
