ay guys i bin watching that stupid lil debate about the elephant transport.....to be honest who really cares how fast or slow it transports....lets see it in action when the game releases...it might actually fit into being a strategical decision on behalf of the developers.

lmfao they're actually using the elephant as a troop transporter while its the slowest and most impractical vehicle they could've made up for the job....
That's a mobile barrack so to speak, something like Starcraft Terran barrack? Only thing unsure is whether you are able to produce infantry while on the move or you need to halt the elephant.

*Yawn* I'm just stating my opinion as well, if you want to pull that card. My opinion is that it's a trivial thing and you're hillarious for arguing with the other guy in the beginning about it. I'm just taking his side.

Go ahead and get all upity with the guy about a fictional vehicle in a fictional game and how it's just not ergonomically designed correctly for troop transport. I hope you have your tin-foil hat on. Next up: Reasons why the space ship from Star Trek technically isn't designed correctly for interstellar travel. Stay tuned, more at 9:00pm.

..........I don't get it. I made a comment on how the unit is stupid....that other guy disagreed..and we talked about it for a while. How is that "upity"? This is a fucking game forum(or message board whatever) What the hell are we supposed to talk about? I don't think you really belong here...Of course its a fictional vehicle, the premise of the whole game is FICTIONAL, games aren't real and movies aren't real either, does that stop people discussing about it?? I really think you're out of place here....

Ahh fuck this, and fuck your whole arrogant attitude, you don't want to debate shit, you just want to make fun of people who do. If you really don't like it, your uptight ass doesn't belong here. Whatever I'm done talking to you.

Calm down there buddy :D

I'll discuss the game, here: Let's see... the make-or-break factors of an RTS are: how effective each vehicle/weapon/class of person is, as well as the mechanics of how efficient you can make new soldiers, the balance between the opposing side's equipment, terrain, base placement, etc. Like somebody else said, maybe the Elephant is a spawnpoint to build new soldiers. There's nothing that says that The Elephant is your only resource for transporting troops, and it may not even be your main transport if you want something quicker. Sacrificing speed for functionality, or vice versa, is an INTEGRAL PART of the balance of an RTS. I'm sure there are more choices. As for it "not feeling right" or "looking right" I personally don't care if they give me a giant Volkswagon Doodle-Bug to haul my troops around with, as long as it gets the job done. That's just me, and I'm stating my opinion, which is that I think it's a trivial thing to gripe about. I'm sure not going to get bent out of shape because it looks like a previous vehicle from Halo3. Even if The Elephant ends up driving and handling totally different than Halo3 and they speed it up tremendously, I'm not going to be one of those people that gripes about it not being true to how it handled in Halo3. I think that's stupid, but that's just me.
As such, I stated my opinion, which is that it's retarded to gripe about it.
I understand that it's for the sake of discussion, and my part of the discussion is that it's retarded :P

I'll play the game before I cast judgement. A demo would be nice, and RTS games are pretty easy to release demos for without ruining the rest of the game, so hopefully we'll get one.

Jesus. Please tell me those colors are because its MP. The colors are too brigth and candy like for SP. But other wise looks great, even with the too bright colors (even in MP I would like to see some better colors, they look awkward. This is war, not some damn autoshow)

How did they get an RTS Halo looking as good or better than the FPS Halos? Amazing stuff.

Supersampling + photoshop.

One thing that is much better: The texture work on the environment. While Halo has some nice looking textures in places, the repeats are fucking ugly from the air.. here we have wonderful textures that go on for miles (well, maybe not miles) without a single repeat. Bravo.

The colors need to be relatively high contrast to make it easy for players to tell the difference between units in the heat of battle. I doubt it's any different in the campaign.

Thats what happens when you zoom out. For example, here is the Avalanche map from Halo 3:

It just shows more detail, and scale, which is what Halo is about.

Yep, and the colors look awesome. Thank god Bungie isn't afraid of color.

OMFG they're using THE ELEPHANT to transport troops! THIS GAME IS DOOOMEEEDDDD!

<sarcasm> The Elephant moved so slow in Halo3, so that means that it will handle and drive exactly the same in a totally different style (RTS) game also! OMFG the choice of turret placement clearly indicates that it is meant as a base and not to transport troops, so this is utter lip-service to people who played Halo3 because they recognize it! </sarcasm>

Come on, seriously. I swear I've never seen so many whiners in my life. I've been visiting this site for a long long time and have only recently decided to post, but gamers have become the most narcissistic whiney little babies I've ever seen.

At the very least, how about you wait and see how they execute the use of the Elephant in the game, or even better yet, wait to see if that's the ONLY choice of troop-transport that there is before you start whining about it. How can you possibly look at a few screenshots and make the deductions that you're making, honestly?
ownage. Making a deduction about how the Elephant will function in an RTS is just dumb. I agree.

Oh, hehe. I suppose these are super AA renders. but regardless, as you say, the texture work is great.

Why? is it because you got used to mouse/keyboard? Well get used to using the controller. If MS brings this out on VISTA only, all the XP peeps will complain, it will help push VISTA but it will cost them more for developing for multi platforms.

For the same reason PC tards whine A LOT when a renown PC franchise, suddenly (FALLOUT, Deus Ex, etc) becomes a console franchise, too. OMG GIMPED 4 CONSOLES! WILL LOOSE ALL THE DEPTH! WILL BE CRAP! CRAP, I SAY!

So... yhea.
Why would elitists want a RTS based from a console ( that already is better looking than the most awaited PC RTS of the year(s) )?

BTW, every time I see a new batch of Starcraft 2 shots, the game seems more and more downgraded. What's the big idea?... so they can pushing the unit count(zerg rush) to insane levels, or so my dad's pc can run it, too?

When/If, it's the Devs fault... no one is telling them to make the consoles, a lead plataform.
Look @ sacred 2, the console versions have very diferent takes on co-op/multi from the lead PC vers., no one is asking anyone to make a all-round version trying to please all the crowds, and acheiving none.
