Some might tell you we went through hell to get you some proper gameplay footage for Tomb Raider: Underworld but I won't. So here it is eventually, you just need to come inside to see Eidos' new baby.
To cut the long story short, the game seems to deliver on its promise by offering long sequences based on exploration and platforming. To me, the game is going to be closer to Anniversary than Legend in that area, at least in the level I had a chance to play yesterday.
Technically speaking, the game is solid. The environments are big and very detailed, Lara's animations have gotten more natural than before - though it's still close to Lara's original style - and the graphics are just beautiful.
The build I played must have been a bit old though since there were a few issues with the camera, the framerate and some glitches once in a while but from what I saw, the game is shaping up well and I'm sure all the fans will be happy to jump in as soon as the game is released.

it's just another "nexgen" tomb raider game.

Commented on 2008-08-21 19:56:13 In reply to KORNdogDo we want to turn this into another third person shooter ? Please god no! You mentioned resident Evil 4 before, I see your point with that, but dont you agree that Resident evil has lost most of its charm having done that ? Most of it has become just another third person shooter.
PS: the combat in Tomb Raider has the drenaline rush which we haven't seen in action yet, that helps you get rid of enemies with one shot and this is the whole point because Tomb Raider wasnt, isnt and will never be about combat.
I hope you see where Im coming from. Uncharted hasnt revolutioned the genre either. what it presented was also a collection of jump to this ledge, grab this rope, push this box .....

Only looking at this video proves that its nothing like TR1 and that the Lara has several new moves and abilities, TR is about exploration and deadly obstacles.
If you want something that is more combat orientated go play Uncharted, but I don't understand why you are whining about a game that you have no interest in.
FWIW I though uncharted was crap, its too centered on combat and mindless shooting, those aren't the type of games I like to play and Uncharted is a lot different than TR, whether you think thats good or bad is personal choice but I know which one I would sooner play.

And you're being critical of Gears of War while praising Uncharted for taking strides from other games, in very much the same way. No one denies that Gears of War borrowed elements from Kill Switch, it just does it all so much better. Kill Switch is rather average, and while Gears may not have a stellar campaign (fun, though, especially co-op) it has almost infinitely better gameplay.
